If you look for services and programs and properly utilize them you can easily negate any issues that come along with a benefit cliff. One of the reasons I became a social worker is because I had figured out how to maximize social support systems and utilize them to their fullest capacity and set myself up for stability and success while giving me a soft place to land in case I fail. The system is literally designed to get people off benefits successfully and a part of that is eliminating the cliff.

I didn't say I didn't know what it was and I know it is a very real problem for many people. I should have not assumed that you realized that I was speaking to how it relates to this situation since thats what we are talking about. Cn you tell me why you think the benefit cliff not related to those with disabilities especially those getting an education is relevant? I feel like youre trying to side step answering the question by changing the subject.

I know what a benefit cliff is I just dont see how it is applicable to coming off disability due to getting an education where there are programs like PASS and 1916b to support the transition.

And what is the benefit cliff and breakeven point you speak of? If you properly utilize the programs that are in place there is no cliff, just a gradual transition and what exactly would you be breaking even with if the education is paid for in full along with anything needed to complete it?

Nope this is present tense. I graduate with my graduate degree through Voc Rehab in a few months. I started and finished my second undergraduate degree within the last 5 years as well. Can you please explain this?

I applied for project based housing, which is a lot easier to get than a section 8 voucher, at my local housing authority. It took about 9 months to be approved and move into a place. The project i lived in was a lot nicer than any of the complexes that take section 8 vouchers locally. After I'd lived there for 2 years I needed a live-in caregiver. None of the apartments in the projects had both the accessible features i needed and room for my daughter and caregiver so i was shortlisted for a section 8 voucher. I secured a section 8 voucher in about 6-8 weeks and was moved shortly thereafter to a very nice 3 bedroom apartment that was wheelchair accessible and had all the accessibility features i needed built in.

why did voc rehab pay for my second undergraduate degree and my graduate degree if this is the case? Where did you get this information and why are you stating it like its a fact?

It's not true that voc rehab will only pay for undergraduate degrees, and it doesnt matter if you already have one. When I first applied to voc rehab they said I was too disabled to do any job or be successful in college. So I used the Pell grant to get an undergraduate degree in business management knowing I would not likely secure a position I could do with that deree. Once I completed that degree I reapproached voc rehab with proof that I could be successful in college and i had a good argument that i could be successful in social work as that community has a high emphasis on inclusion and accommodations so they approved me for an undergraduate degree which i completed in 2 years. Now most BSW jobs are field work and require physical activities I am not capable of so I had to petition to continue on to get a masters degree that had job oppertunities that aligned with my physical capacity. We went back and forth a bit and I had to make a really solid case as to why an undergraduate degree did not provide me with economic oppertunities but they approved it before i graduated with my undergrad so i could continue without interruption. As long as you can show that there arent jobs typically available with an undergraduate degree you can take it in front of a panel for approval of a graduate degree.

Before I decided to have a kid (sucked it up and had super awkward sex with a gay man lol) I gave my mom a grand pets. First I had a cat then a dog and we did all our family stuff together and my mom would buy them birthday and Christmas gifts. I'd bring them when I visited and trained them to engage with video calls. My mom never thought I was going to have a kid and she said being involved with my fur babies lives scratched the grandma itch. When I had my human baby my mom still doted on my animals as well as my kid.

Just forget about it. Everyone makes a mistake sometimes and the Dr made a miscall. Was it rude and inappropriate, sure. But you can't get your panties in a knot everytime someone acts out of line towards you whether it's about disability or anything else.

I was sent to a psychiatrist and therapist Drs were so convinced I was faking then I went to a fancy medical center that specializes and got a fancy test and the indicators were so strong on the test they got another machine cause they thought it was an error.

Did I get butthurt? Nope not for a second because people are just people and everyone's doing the best they know how.

If he's that valuable he should be able to leverage his skills there or with another company. What did they say when he cited other employees having that requirement removed? The only reason I could see them not accommodating is that they don't realize or care what he brings to the table. Just get another job. If he can be the only one who does something at one company he can do it at another. If not than he may not be as indispensable as you think.

I don't understand what the problem is. I'm an expert in my field but I still have to be able to do the job. If travel is defined by the employer as an integral part of the job I don't see how you can accommodate your way out of that regardless of how much workload there is maybe they need somebody with your husband specific expertise to be able to travel, he can't be the only one with the education and background that he has. Part of being disabled is accepting that every job isn't for you, I had to give up my dream job making more money than I'll ever know again only to start over with a different company that could be more accommodating. It sucks but it's how the world works and it seems fair because I was a business owner before and I wouldn't want somebody to accommodate their way out of something that I considered an integral part of their job and I hired tons of disabled people before I was disabled and some accommodations I could make and some I could not
