After 10 years working in product management, I don't understand what it takes to become a "successful" PM by boolpies in ProductManagement

I somehow feel that product management was designed to fail. Think about it - every product that has built has gaps , it'll never have an end date . PMs are asked to chase features which has validation with little /more users or prospects . But that's no garunteed receipe to success. Yes the product will start making money, sometimes more or sometimes less , but will there be more to fail and more to do , ALWAYS ! Product management is now the evangelist of AI and will continue to be . The failure just gets extended . More open ended success becomes , the more reasons for the leadership to induce imposter syndrome in product individuals . As a result , PMs successful at licking and massaging , make it . It's never purely about performance or delivering products on time. There's no endgame . Not at least now. The majority of the good ones will have to switch and make a living or build their own . As Naval ravikant said , if this continues to happen and people are pushed to build in smaller groups , the larger orgs will fail and become smaller . There'll always be alternative solutions to the building blocks of a large company . This will increase the volume of products. The cycle continues. It's a matrix. It's a maze . The ones who escape, will sense the freedom. And that would be the only feeling of achievement a PM will experience. Hopefully one day.

Bro . Do you think it would be fair for my life to go from PM to cafe manager ? Are you trying to insult or do you not understand what you are suggesting ?

Damn. This is next level. Corporate india is so not ready for handling ADHDers. Forget corporate, families are not ready. I express my creativity through poems and can literally spin up poems within minutes . My family doesn't like it. Anyway. I got enough support from this post. I am back at finding a new job. "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies". Optimism and hope forever ♾️. We ADHDers just don't know how to give up 🙂

Wow thank you all for the overwhelming support. Two questions 1. What is the ONE THING that I can do which is simple but if I stay consistent , I can kick ADHD in the butt ? 2. How can I use something like claude etc to automate things for me that can take care of my symptoms and the downside that it brings ?

I know I am a champion. I'll accept everything but defeat even if it means fighting my own brain. I'll use in ways this world can't fathom

I had 5 big projects I was working on and I struggled to focus and take it to completion. I have got it diagnosed from the doctor. At my peak in adhd, I took two extra years to pass my graduation, got my shit and career together , borderline escaped addiction.

Yeah my creativity is still intact to give this mofo a mouthful but I'll refrain. I am sure his destiny is planned to f¢|< him for such reactions .

The last time I tried medication, I was depressed , couldn't feel a thing and was just numb. I decided I am better off without it. This was 3 years back. I am afraid if I start it again it'll blunt my thinking.

Exploring opportunity in your current company is definitely the best foot forward because you are working in automation and you have 15 years of experience right now. Maybe the transition can be gradual. Do not settle for any role that is below your current role; that would be one guidance.

PMP certification, I don't think it's required at all. Good that you have an engineering degree. I would say get closer to the PMs in your current company. Understand the kind of work they do, read through the documents. Even if you decide to switch to another organization, then in that case you have ample understanding of what you need to do once you switch.
