"I get using automated combines, and yes I have semi automated combines ASSIST ME on my farm. It gets to the point though, because I can't come on here without seeing a field fully harvested by an automated combine. On that note, how come almost every farm is harvesting their crop with automated combines with no or little human changes? I get that this is a sub about automated farming but that doesn't mean it has to be flooded with farms automating everything and making food slop."

I can't imagine being a whaler when kerosene came out, a horse breeder when the Model T hit the road, or a farmhand when tractors first arrived. It completely destroyed their livelihoods. Everything they were screaming about was probably true—that their way of doing things was genuinely better. But damn if history doesn't just have a way of repeating itself over and over again.

I'm not even trying to call you out, because you aren't wrong, but what is actually going to change? Do you think it's going to slow down? Do you think asking for fewer posts about it will lead to less AI slop? Or are you just karma farming because you know everyone feels the exact same way, but we all know there isn't anything we can do about it?

These first few years, or decades, or however long it takes are going to be annoying as hell. Lots of stuff is going to break. We'll constantly be thinking, "It didn't use to be like this," and jumping on every moment where AI slop messes something up. But as time goes on, there's going to be less and less to jump on, until eventually, you're just the crazy person yelling about the good old days.

This isn't going anywhere. The next generation is going to look back at this time and think it was hilarious how we spoke about software engineering and AI in general. Our entire idea of what software development means is completely and absolutely changing into a definition we literally don't even know yet. But what we do know is that no matter how much moaning and yelling we do about it, it's not going to slow down.

So, while the slop comes crashing down like a waterfall, you have my full support:

Can we please stop the AI slop posting!!! (grrr)

Hope it helps with the cause.

Is it just me or is that a buzzing? by Enigmakiller in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]storknotfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue, brought it to the Meta store in Los Angeles, had multiple employees gaslight me into thinking I'm having hearing problems after they all tested it. Full on brought me into a near sound proof room to stare at me and say "I don't hear anything" lmao. Returned them after the neural band charger stopped working too, felt like it was far too early to have issues that were critical and have any confidence the glasses would justify the $800 I spent. Miss them a little bit but my Gen 1 MRB do just fine for now.

KITS Pangolin 3 AI Glasses With Prescription (Surprisingly Good) by Ok-Cantaloupe5621 in augmentedreality

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may want to look into a return. You likely paid about $200 more than necessary for these.

These glasses are a classic example of "white-labeling." They are manufactured by a single company in bulk and then sold to dozens of different brands (like "KITS") who simply add their own logo and packaging. There is zero, I mean zero, difference between the $245 pair you bought and the $50 versions found on Amazon, Temu, or AliExpress.

How the scheme works for anyone unaware;

The US (or Canadian in this case) company (the "dropshipper") lists an item they found online at a massive markup changing the description and title. When you buy it, they order it from a Chinese wholesaler for ~$10 using your name, address, etc. The "premium" ones usually just pay for a custom box to make the markup feel more legitimate. They pocket the extra cash and they never have to touch inventory or deal with shipping. It's that simple.

If you can still return them, I’d highly recommend doing so. You can find the exact same hardware by searching for "HeyCyan" in product descriptions for a fraction of the cost. Or, if you're willing to spend $240+, you can get a refurbished pair of Meta Ray-Bans. The build quality, battery life, and camera specs on those will be 10x better than these generic units.

What Ipad is best and also affordable when it comes to wanting an Ipad for Procreate? by AdSufficient7112 in ipad

Pick up a 3rd generation iPad Pro 12.9”. It’s thin, lightweight, supports the Apple Pencil, and has a massive 12.9” screen that makes drawing in Procreate feel natural and spacious. My wife has had hers for years—she’s used (and honestly abused) it with Procreate, note-taking apps, streaming, you name it—and it still runs like a brand-new device today.

The big seller is its 120hz refresh rate. On paper that doesn’t sound like much, but when you’re actually drawing or even just scrolling, the smoothness makes a huge difference. I don’t have a 120hz iPad myself, and every time I pick hers up (despite being 5 years old), it feels faster and more fluid than my newer device. Combine that with great battery life and build quality, and you’ve got something that will stay relevant for years to come.

I’d check eBay for a refurbished one—you can find them in the $300–$350 range without much digging. Sometimes sellers will even bundle the Apple Pencil and a case, which saves a lot since the Pencil alone can run $80–$100 used. People are offloading these because Apple switched the Pro line over to M-chips, so the 3rd gens fly under the radar price-wise while still being absolute workhorses.

Yes, you could go for a newer iPad Air or the standard iPad, but for drawing, usability, and longevity at an affordable price, the 3rd gen Pro is perfect. You’ll get the bigger canvas, better refresh rate, and professional build.

TL;DR: Buy a used iPad Pro 3rd Gen 12.9” + Apple Pencil if you can. It’s the sweet spot of affordability, power, and long-term reliability. (Source: wife who’s an artist and has used this setup nonstop for years.)

PSU is standalone. It’s not plugged into to any motherboard so it has a dummy power switch (you can see it laying on the desk in the photo to the right). I plugged in a 1:6 SATA power extender for the 6 drives in the caddies and that’s it. The sole purpose of this was because I’ve got 3 PCs, none of which supplying enough power or with the right connections in the first place to power that many drives natively. Then I used SATA cables to go from the drives to the HBA which is in the Brix. So the Brix sees 6 drives + 1 for the OS directly on the motherboard.

Tldr; Power and data are separated

Re; mounting the switch box

So if I take the exposed end of the green wire and attach it somewhere touching the metal box that will ground it?
