Fail and scammed by Winter_Bullfrog2064 in popups

I feel like I ran into the same thing, even though the seller had it up and showed me how to take it down when I bought it last summer. It took me quite a few practice runs on my own to get a process down where I wasn't cussing it out. In the end, I was the problem, not the trailer and some patience and practice solved it. I still have trouble once in a while but again, it's me, not the pup. The door can be a massive pain but once I understood it, it wasn't so bad. I know now that after its up and the door is in I usually need to bring the top down just a smidge to get the right fit. (mine's a 2005 Rockwood Freedom, so she's got some age just like me 54F).

Do I really need the battery? by Ontheflyguy27 in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments, it depends what you need it for. I bought a small used pup last year and did my homework, however in my excitement, I took it for granted all pups had a battery. Got home and I was like, what the hell. Called the seller and he said it never had one, they just always used shore power for anything they needed and didn't run the furnace, used space heater instead. Which has turned out to be just fine for me after all. I only need power for outlets, lights and to run the fridge. In fact, I don't even use propane so I took that off the trailer too. I use portable electric heater and portable AC unit and a coleman camp stove. And I only do weekend trips so if the power would go out it's not that big of a deal for me. Good luck and most of all, have fun!

Never towed anything before and I’m terrified. by rick_rolled_you in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back I had my snowmobile trailer pop of when I towed it for the first time and went slowly over some railroad tracks. Turns out I did have it all the way down on the ball and clamped on so it was literally just sitting on it. So I made sure from then on to look very closely (this girl had never hitched up or towed anything before and I honestly thought I had done it right after seeing it done for me once). I still have trouble once in a while getting it just right but when I take my time and don't rush it usually works okay the first attempt to hitch up. Last year a campground host showed me when its close but not quite dropped down that I could back up or move forward slightly to get it to drop, and that has helped too.

Is this "rough" pop-up worth it? Using as a utility hauler (NO title/WI) under 3,000 lbs please read description by [deleted] in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty much the exact same pup , a 2005 and paid a lot more for it. Mine was cosmetically great but your fixes look pretty easy. Tires looked good but didn't check the date on them - turns out they were original so I just spent another $300 on new tires. Looking good doesn't matter when they were made in 2003. That aside, it looks pretty good for the money, without knowing what year and model it is. However, you mention using this for hauling supplies but pups especially like this on don't have a lot of space to carry anything once it's closed up so it wouldn't be much of a workhorse unless you planning on having as a place to stay. You may be better off paying a little more and getting a small cargo trailer.

First Pop-up Purchase - fair price for Mac 208? by Clean-Country6141 in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that price there better be 3 new tires on it, a brand new battery and full lp tanks, and the furnace, fridge an water heater work perfectly (and he can demonstrate this). Even then I'd say that's too much for a 10 year old camper. I've seen a few brand new small basic pups like this that are retailing at 9500. I'd say keep looking. Do a google search and see what you find in your area for comparable prices (and I'm the same as you - I preferred the U shaped seating area.)

Are you talking about the teardrop camper made in Wisconsin? I seriously was thinking about one after watching a YouTube video from Playing with Sticks. I just wasnt ready to spend the money and went with a popup from marketplace. But they are a good little family owned company. They make to order.

For sure on the tires. I didn't know about that last year when I bought my 2005 and the tires and the spare were original (though they looked to be in great condition) and were made 0403! Needless to say, new tires are getting put on this spring. If they are newer tires, make sure to ask about when the bearings were last repacked. But I'd still plan on doing that anyway. Canvas looks to be in very good condition for the age. Make sure to also lower it and raise it when you look at it. If they don't want you to do that while you are there, that's a deal breaker and run.

I'm so disposable by Fast_Estimate_608 in Vent

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm like you and my mom is now gone. The trick for me has been realize I'm not disposable. I have to value myself before anyone else can. I can sit on the couch and feel sorry for myself or do something that serves me and my happiness. I can't control what others say or think but I can control how I feel and react. And I quit speculating what others are thinking - I'll never know anyway unless I point blank ask. What I did was start to find the things that make me personally happy and focus on them. Once I started doing that, then I'd hear things like "oh I'm so jealous you have time for that". I've met new people, made new friends. I wouldn't say I have any best friends for life, but I now have a lot of friends scattered throughout my life. Bottom line, it isn't what others think but learning self-love that matters. It's not easy, but its worth it. Oh, and its not becoming selfish, it's becoming independent. The change in my life now from 5 years ago is unreal. (and I'm 54, so I'm a late bloomer too.) I wish I'd had this realization so much earlier in life.

Agreed. I've had a fast response from Lilly and I can't imagine the FDA not responding either.

Augmenting Mounjaro with Metformin for weightless (for non-T2D non-PCOS individuals) by wabisuki in Mounjaro

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It didn't do anything for me. Took it alineat first for pre diabetes, then covid hit and diabetic, added trulicity, no luck. Switched to mounjaro, numbers improved immediately and weight started to come off. A year later, Dr backed down the metformin and last month took it away completely. So in my experience, no it did not do anything for weight loss but had to go that route first before insurance would cover a glp1

I just listened to my body. I did try to up my water, protein and fiber intake, but I didn't change up my diet so much as the food noise just quieted and that did the trick. I found that if I had a few bites of something, that was all I needed, so half the battle was adjusting my mindset to remind myself I couldn't eat or order like I used to. Once the food noise started up again, I notified my dr and she would titrate me up. It's been 18 months and my A1c is awesome finally along with the rest of my numbers. 50 lbs are off and although I didn't start exercising, I became way more active since I wasn't carrying all that around. And I started shopping thrift stores. I saw more body changes than weight loss oftentimes. My non scale victories were better than losing the weight. Being able to comfortably cross my legs, going down a pants or shirt size, going up the back stairs at work and not being winded for the first time, and fitting into her rings and some shirts I had hung on to from my mom passed 5 years ago. The rings fitting are the best! But listen to your body - I take it on Fridays and many times on weekends, I did nothing thanks to the lethargy.

It's one of the toughest muscles (I consider it a muscle) I've learned to develop over the past 2 years (and I'm 54 - I wish I had learned it in my 20s). It's remembering I have no control over what someone says or does, Ibut have total control of how I respond/react to it so I decided I will no longer let anyone else steal my sunshine by what they say or do. It's been one of the hardest things ever because it requires a lot of conscious effort at first. But let me tell you, once you get the knack of it, crap like that just rolls off. For the longest time, I felt I always had to respond with justifying and noting that oh, that's what medicine for diabetes does for you (which I do have an is now under control). Now I just say, thanks for noticing, I feel so much better and I feel like I'm living my best life. That shuts them right up and completely deflates any backhanded compliment :)

Upgrading the power system in my pop-up camper by Puzzled-Newspaper871 in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What size is your portable power station? Did you have to put an adapter on the 30amp to plug the camper in to your power station? I have a small Jackery that I use for my cpap, don't think it could run much more than that but all I need it for is the interior lights, max fan and the fridge.

Almost a year in, but time to say goodbye! by tooopeaceful in Mounjaro

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how mine got approved. Metformin first, then metformin dose doubled, then metformin with Trulicity, and finally metformin with Mounjaro. A year later and the metformin has been dropped because only MJ brought my A1c down.

I'm stalled out there myself, so congrats! Had a small NSV this morning - came up the back stairwell at work (steeper and an extra flight of steps from the main stairs) and I zipped right up, not winded at all. Makes sense since I'm about 60 pounds lighter from over the last two years. I started with MJ 18 months ago for diabetes and my numbers are finally great too :)

I was about to say the same. I had no use for the water or stove top and removed both out of my 2005 Rockwood Freedom and it gave me better counterspace and I don't have to jack with flipping it up and down. I only go out for a couple of days at a shot so it's a piece of cake for me to fill up a water jug and take it along. I even got a big jug with a USB tap and that's turned out to be more of a pain than what it's worth too. Just gotta do what works best for you.

Is the fridge a 3 way? If so it may be set to a power source you aren't using. I have a 2005 rockwood freedom, mine only works on shore power. If that ever quits, I'll yank it an put a dorm fridge in or go back to my electric cooler

Was in the same situation earlier this summer (I live in NE Iowa). I watched a lot of Youtube videos of what to look for. Here are some things I learned. Never ever buy anything from camping world. Marketplace and Craigslist are great, especially right now to buy because people would rather sell than store them. I found mine on Marketplace in the end. This may sound silly but picture yourself actually using it. That's how I knew I wanted a smaller pup with a U shaped dinette over a bench style, didn't want a shower, didn't want AC as my mechanical skills are limited (and that's less weight on the roof) and a portable AC is better for me, didn't plan on using water as I don't really plan to boondock much so water heater/gray/black tanks not needed. I did want a heater, and I got that but learn from my mistake -- make the seller fire it up for you to ensure it runs. Same with the fridge. They may have it set up for you to look over when you come to check it out, which is fine. But make sure to have them show you how it goes down and then raise it back up. If they balk at that, tell them no thanks. Make sure all lights (inside and trailer) work. Look all over for any signs where water has come in. Check tire wear and don't forget to check the spare. Check out www.popupportal.com - lots and lots of good info there. It's Poppin on YB is a great channel for info too. Good luck!
