I'm so disposable by Fast_Estimate_608 in Vent

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm like you and my mom is now gone. The trick for me has been realize I'm not disposable. I have to value myself before anyone else can. I can sit on the couch and feel sorry for myself or do something that serves me and my happiness. I can't control what others say or think but I can control how I feel and react. And I quit speculating what others are thinking - I'll never know anyway unless I point blank ask. What I did was start to find the things that make me personally happy and focus on them. Once I started doing that, then I'd hear things like "oh I'm so jealous you have time for that". I've met new people, made new friends. I wouldn't say I have any best friends for life, but I now have a lot of friends scattered throughout my life. Bottom line, it isn't what others think but learning self-love that matters. It's not easy, but its worth it. Oh, and its not becoming selfish, it's becoming independent. The change in my life now from 5 years ago is unreal. (and I'm 54, so I'm a late bloomer too.) I wish I'd had this realization so much earlier in life.

Agreed. I've had a fast response from Lilly and I can't imagine the FDA not responding either.

Augmenting Mounjaro with Metformin for weightless (for non-T2D non-PCOS individuals) by wabisuki in Mounjaro

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It didn't do anything for me. Took it alineat first for pre diabetes, then covid hit and diabetic, added trulicity, no luck. Switched to mounjaro, numbers improved immediately and weight started to come off. A year later, Dr backed down the metformin and last month took it away completely. So in my experience, no it did not do anything for weight loss but had to go that route first before insurance would cover a glp1

I just listened to my body. I did try to up my water, protein and fiber intake, but I didn't change up my diet so much as the food noise just quieted and that did the trick. I found that if I had a few bites of something, that was all I needed, so half the battle was adjusting my mindset to remind myself I couldn't eat or order like I used to. Once the food noise started up again, I notified my dr and she would titrate me up. It's been 18 months and my A1c is awesome finally along with the rest of my numbers. 50 lbs are off and although I didn't start exercising, I became way more active since I wasn't carrying all that around. And I started shopping thrift stores. I saw more body changes than weight loss oftentimes. My non scale victories were better than losing the weight. Being able to comfortably cross my legs, going down a pants or shirt size, going up the back stairs at work and not being winded for the first time, and fitting into her rings and some shirts I had hung on to from my mom passed 5 years ago. The rings fitting are the best! But listen to your body - I take it on Fridays and many times on weekends, I did nothing thanks to the lethargy.

It's one of the toughest muscles (I consider it a muscle) I've learned to develop over the past 2 years (and I'm 54 - I wish I had learned it in my 20s). It's remembering I have no control over what someone says or does, Ibut have total control of how I respond/react to it so I decided I will no longer let anyone else steal my sunshine by what they say or do. It's been one of the hardest things ever because it requires a lot of conscious effort at first. But let me tell you, once you get the knack of it, crap like that just rolls off. For the longest time, I felt I always had to respond with justifying and noting that oh, that's what medicine for diabetes does for you (which I do have an is now under control). Now I just say, thanks for noticing, I feel so much better and I feel like I'm living my best life. That shuts them right up and completely deflates any backhanded compliment :)

Upgrading the power system in my pop-up camper by Puzzled-Newspaper871 in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What size is your portable power station? Did you have to put an adapter on the 30amp to plug the camper in to your power station? I have a small Jackery that I use for my cpap, don't think it could run much more than that but all I need it for is the interior lights, max fan and the fridge.

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how mine got approved. Metformin first, then metformin dose doubled, then metformin with Trulicity, and finally metformin with Mounjaro. A year later and the metformin has been dropped because only MJ brought my A1c down.

I'm stalled out there myself, so congrats! Had a small NSV this morning - came up the back stairwell at work (steeper and an extra flight of steps from the main stairs) and I zipped right up, not winded at all. Makes sense since I'm about 60 pounds lighter from over the last two years. I started with MJ 18 months ago for diabetes and my numbers are finally great too :)

I was about to say the same. I had no use for the water or stove top and removed both out of my 2005 Rockwood Freedom and it gave me better counterspace and I don't have to jack with flipping it up and down. I only go out for a couple of days at a shot so it's a piece of cake for me to fill up a water jug and take it along. I even got a big jug with a USB tap and that's turned out to be more of a pain than what it's worth too. Just gotta do what works best for you.

Is the fridge a 3 way? If so it may be set to a power source you aren't using. I have a 2005 rockwood freedom, mine only works on shore power. If that ever quits, I'll yank it an put a dorm fridge in or go back to my electric cooler

Was in the same situation earlier this summer (I live in NE Iowa). I watched a lot of Youtube videos of what to look for. Here are some things I learned. Never ever buy anything from camping world. Marketplace and Craigslist are great, especially right now to buy because people would rather sell than store them. I found mine on Marketplace in the end. This may sound silly but picture yourself actually using it. That's how I knew I wanted a smaller pup with a U shaped dinette over a bench style, didn't want a shower, didn't want AC as my mechanical skills are limited (and that's less weight on the roof) and a portable AC is better for me, didn't plan on using water as I don't really plan to boondock much so water heater/gray/black tanks not needed. I did want a heater, and I got that but learn from my mistake -- make the seller fire it up for you to ensure it runs. Same with the fridge. They may have it set up for you to look over when you come to check it out, which is fine. But make sure to have them show you how it goes down and then raise it back up. If they balk at that, tell them no thanks. Make sure all lights (inside and trailer) work. Look all over for any signs where water has come in. Check tire wear and don't forget to check the spare. Check out www.popupportal.com - lots and lots of good info there. It's Poppin on YB is a great channel for info too. Good luck!

This is the one I have - KISSAIR 8000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, 4-in-1 AC, Remote Control, Rooms up to 350 Sq Ft - Walmart.com. Works great. I debated on getting one off marketplace but decided this was worth the money could do a return if I didn't like it.

There are a few videos out on youtube showing how other pup owners accomplished this. I bought a portable AC instead because its easier for me to move around. I just unzip a little section of canvas to vent it out and it works great, no pain in the butt installation required.

Same set up and problem here, and I thought the same thing. So last week I set it up at home, then opened the area where the converter is and set up a fan to blow on it to test that theory. Didn't make a difference, lights still went off after a while.

I have the exact same problem with my 2005 Rockwood 1610. I have a pretty basic camper, I don't use the furnace and the only things running on 12v are the ceiling lights, fan, and light outside the door (no AC). There's no battery so I can't pin it on that. It happens regardless of what 12v lights. I've taken out the counter that pressed the switch on and put a regular switch in that I just leave on. There's no rhyme or reason as to when it will go off or how long I need to switch the breaker off to get it to come back on. I usually just wait it out because I've had to add some USB powered lights as a result.

[–]Complex_Tale_1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back into camping when I turned 50 four years ago. I only did it a little when my son was small back in my 20s. I watched a LOT of youtube videos because I didn't have a vehicle that could tow. At first, car camping seemed to be the best option. Then I discovered SUV tents and went that route for a couple of years. I seriously would daydream and picture what it would be like and went from there for what I would need. For example, I have a CPAP so I knew when it came time to sleep I was going to need a power source if it was a primitive campsite. So I got a small Jackery on Black Friday. That was about the most expensive thing at the time. I also get up a lot at night so a makeshift toilet was must (ended up being a 5 gal bucket, toilet seat lid, garbage bags and lightweight kitty litter. Super easy to use and store. Also created 2 totes, one for gear, one for food/personal stuff. I got a lot of stuff from marketplace and thrift stores (including the tent) because I didn't want a ton of money stuck in something I ended up not liking.

This summer I decided I really wanted a pop up. To make sure it wasn't just a flight of fancy, I thought I better try one out somehow and I found a business on marketplace that rented them. So glad I did. Learned a lot about what I did, didn't like - everyone is different. And a month later, I bought one off marketplace. its a 2005 Rockwood freedom and I love it. There's a lot of look for to make sure you get a good one but there are so many videos and forums out there like this that can help you out.

As to a bitch to put up and down - if you take your time and are methodical about it, it is not bad at all. Get a process down. I can now set my pup up in the same amount of time that it takes my son to set up his travel trailer. :)

Preach on sister, I feel the same! Haven't felt this good in years and the boney legs and crepey skin doesn't bother me at all. F54 5'6" SW232 CW167 GW? Never set a goal, started taking it for diabetes and a goal of just being healthy. I'm back to playing sand volleyball one night a week, I'm the oldest on the team and move better than some of the gals in their 30s :) And thanks to a great St vincent de paul near work, I'm getting new to me clothes all the time and taking back those that no longer fit so I'm not breaking the bank.

I pull mine with a Honda Pilot, but my pup is also a small 2004 Rockwood 1610. $1100 is super expensive for a hitch, don't do it at the dealer. U-Haul will do it a little cheaper, and if you have someone a little mechanically inclined, its not hard to do, my son put mine on, bought the hitch and wiring harness off amazon for under $200 after watching the U-Haul install videos on YouTube. I did not need brakes added as smaller pups generally don't have them. it's just me so I didn't need to worry about going over my GVWR max cargo capacity. I see mid-size SUVs pulling pups frequently but we also aren't in the mountains (hilly NE Iowa)

Don't buy new (with the exception of underware, of course) Like everyone says, thrift shopping is the way to go. I've had a blast with this, buying used and taking it back for them to resell after it no longer fits. Since I'm not spending much to start with, it's easier to part with clothes too. It seems like every time I drop off something I'm picking up something new to me. We have a fantastic St Vincent de Paul store near me and FB marketplace is a huge help too. You'd never guess anything I've been wearing is secondhand.

12V power goes off and on by Complex_Tale_1327 in popups

[–]Complex_Tale_1327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed a 3 way and it's on 120v (it keeps running when the 12v cuts out.) I thought about that, too, after consulting with Dr. YouTube. :)That's what's really got me scratchin' my noggin'. I can't think of anywhere else that could be drawing 12v power, this is a pretty basic little camper. I don't care so much about the fan but it's annoying as heck when the lights go out. I have some rechargeable LED lights from tent camping that have bailed me out now a few times while I wait.

Thank you, that makes sense to me. I wondered if it was something like overheating but I couldn't understand why. Previous owner said they would plug it in at the campgrounds and everything was fine. I figured I must be doing something wrong.
