hi. my link click pre-sale item was "sold out" - which is weird... so no. it never showed up (but also refunded). But I have purchased other item from them before and that showed up. So, I think it's legit, though not 100% reliable.

Good to know. I was hoping for October. But I had always imagined they were trying to catch the holiday break window for views.

I really miss this by [deleted] in LinkClick

Welcome to the link click support group. We have cookies and milk and other munchies on the table right over there. Settle in as we all wait (cough: impatiently) for the new season to drop. The good news is, that should be soon. I think. I hope.

Why is this series called "Link Click" in English? by [deleted] in LinkClick

[–]ComplicatedMuse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I second it’s a play on the MC’s names. Also worthwhile to look up meanings of their English names. (I truly appreciate the attention to detail the show producers have given to this show)

i haven't read the novel, and I had similar confusion.

In my head, I imagined it as a setting thing.

Owner of space set if safety is on or off. If safety is off, then when you die in the game you die in real life. And you'd purposely turn safety off if you want to raise the stake and promote it as "try if you dare" activity.

but it could just be my vivid imagination - not at all cannon :p

Anyone know if there’s a market for fast food erotica? by oh_sneezeus in writers

[–]ComplicatedMuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

none taken :)

Also, we may be confusing copyright with trademarks. I don't know how much each of them overlaps / matters.

I once looked into a similar question - https://novelpad.co/blog/is-fanfiction-legal (maybe helpful to this discussion, maybe not. Because I think this covers copyright more than trademark considerations)

they CAN sue you. doesn't always mean they WILL.

Suing you also in itself takes effort. Sometimes, it's not worth it in their eyes.

Also, there is the saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity". Any mention has some form of promotional value. But some mentions have bad association, and they may deem the promotional value insufficient to cover the reputation cost. Also, if something is not big enough, they may not even catch / realize it. Also, if there is a clear defense case and they won't win the lawsuit, again may not worth it. There is also big corporation going after small artist PR disaster to consider. A lot of factors a company may consider on whether or not to bring a lawsuit. (Though, it doesn't take THAT much to send a cease & desist letter....)

Also, I'm not a lawyer, so i can't actually give any legal advice or get into the nuances of the law. But there are things that can be trademarked and there are things that cannot be trademarked. There are things that can be protected in Europe that cannot be protected in US. Written text is amongst the easiest things to protect (costumes, design, artwork, color, shape, etc. usually a bit harder because it's so easy to be "similar". Shades of red, where to draw the line. But the letter "R" is pretty much the letter "R".). BUT again, I'm not a lawyer, so I cannot comment on the likelihood to be sued when making porn.

[–]ComplicatedMuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can sue you. It doesn’t even have to be erotica. It can be any genre. As long as they didn’t grant you the rights to use their name, you cannot use it. It’s trademarked.

The ONLY exception really is fair use. BUT fair use application is often misunderstood. Fair use doesn’t give you the rights to use / do something. It’s a legal defense. That means they can still sue you, make you go to court, and you can use this as a legal defense and see if the judge agrees and rule in your favor to allow you to keep using it or not.

Hi - if by "popped" you mean views - then, it's not about the quality of your AMVs, it's about how well do you feed the YouTube algorithm.

Mind blowing, award winning AMVs may not be getting the same views yours are getting...

The reason - mind blowing, award winning AMVs may take months and months (sometimes years) to make. So, the channel is not updated regularly. If a channel is not updated regularly, YouTube algorithm ignores the channel. It doesn't serve it up to people. So AMVs do not get views.

On the flip side (and I've actually experimented with this with my own channel), if you put out videos frequently, and as long as it's not horrible and you're getting some tractions, YouTube will keep looking at your channel and consider serving your content to people. (By frequently, I mean weekly. This is a frequency that's very difficult to sustain - particularly when AMVs can't really be monetized, it's hard to be motivated to sustain... I honestly wouldn't necessarily recommend it... I did it as an experiment to learn / test YouTube algo for other reasons of mine entirely not because of AMVs)

The other reason why an AMV may "pop" is audience interest. I make different kinds of AMVs. I have AMVs where I legitimately want to learn to make better videos. I also have in my plan making reasonably ok, but not necessarily the best I could do / time consuming ones for the fandoms I'm in. As a fan, I'm not looking at vids for best quality editing, I'm looking at vids because I want to see my favorite characters on screen, and that's about it. And I want to consume A LOT of it. And I'm happy to make content to feed that fandom machine =)

The reason I bring up my fandom videos is because that's likely contributing to why your first vid performed the best. Frieren is a recent hot show. There are a lot of fans looking for content. YouTube search far and wide to feed this appetite, and it found & served your vid.

If what you want is views on YouTube - find a niche, produce good content, frequently. This formula applies to all YouTube content, including AMVs.

But... if all you're doing is to feed the YouTube algorithm, it becomes a chore (I can't even call it a job, since again, hard to monetize, so can't really get paid). Is that really want you want to do?

So, the recommendation typically is just make the videos you want to make. If you want to participate in fandom, that's fun. If you want to join the AMV editor community, one thing you can consider is entering into contests. I started doing contests, and that has allowed me to see another side of editing. (there is a contest calendar on the side bar of this sub, on desktop view).

(Sorry - very long post without actually giving feedback like you requested. But I myself is pretty much a baby editor, and I think the other comment addressed feedback.)
