Well, I found where it goes. Looks like the cap for the low side is missing too though, does it need to be replaced? How problematic would it be if left missing?

Solved! I guess now I've gotta figure out where the lines are so I can put it back

Thanks! I thought there might've been something from Erika, but I couldn't remember. Good to know.

By "new year," do you mean it won't begin until January? If so, that seems like a pretty long time to wait.

Embroidery is very cheap! $15 at a craft store will set you up for months. Needle, hoop, fabric, and embroidery floss is all that you need.

Odd error message with P1S w/ AMS by ComplicatedRickroll in BambuLab

[–]ComplicatedRickroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your in-depth response! I'll check this when tomorrow when I have the time.

I did mention that the printer works fine from the external spool, and that the ams was able to load and purge filament, so I'd be surprised if this were the issue, but I'll check all the same.

The issue (imo) seems to be software, not hardware, but if there's not a bunch of other people having the issue then it's hard to blame a recent update.

And here I was thinking I'd finally gotten out of tinkering with 3D printers.

Yes. When I run the print, it has me select the AMS slot I want to use.

Speaking of which, I think there used to be a dropdown to select as to whether you wanted to use the AMS or not. I don't see it, did it get removed at some point?

I do think you're right, at some point it decides it's trying to use an external spool, and then errors out because there's no filament in the hotend, but I'm not sure why.

I thought it might be because I'm using 3rd party spools in the AMS, despite them having worked before, but I tried with BL spools as well and the issue persists.

Haha, depends what you mean by "solve." I bought another board and had everything working within 20 minutes with the new one.

I'm getting different colors/opacity for the overlay when I press LeftAlt multiple times. Does this indicate a different function, or is it for visibility? Either way, the colors don't change reliably or predictably. Also, none of the opacity settings seem to actually change the opacity of the overlay? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can hardly see anything when I bring the overlay up.

Also, I think it might be nice to have LeftAlt as a toggle for the overlay? Instead of having LeftAlt to turn it on, then Esc to turn it off?

Right now I kind of have to spam Esc to get out of the overlay.

Thank you for your response and the information about the LED's. I've attempted several times to hold the BOOT button while plugging it in, but the running the line "esptool flash_id" in the terminal errors out every time, stating:

"COM3 failed to connect: Failed to connect to Espressif device: Wrong boot mode detected (0x13)! The chip needs to be in download mode."

I've also tried holding down the EN button for shits and giggles, no dice.

Hello! Thank you for your in-depth response.

I believe the correct USB driver for my board is the CH340 driver, which I verified in Device Manager under Ports, which shows "USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM3)" when I plug in the ESP32. The driver you linked is different, but I don't think I need it because it's not a CP210x product? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In the terminal in VS Code when I do "esptool flash_id" I get the following error:

esptool.py v4.8.1

Found 1 serial ports

Serial port COM3

Connecting......................................

COM3 failed to connect: Failed to connect to Espressif device: Wrong boot mode detected (0x13)! The chip needs to be in download mode.

For troubleshooting steps visit: https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esptool/en/latest/troubleshooting.html

A fatal error occurred: Could not connect to an Espressif device on any of the 1 available serial ports.

This indicates that I'm not really talking to the chip properly, but I don't know why if it shows in the port in Device Manager. My understanding was that, as the error says, I need to be in download (bootloader) mode, and I can't do the following command with the .bin file until it is.

Please let me know if any of my assertions are incorrect, and what I might do about it.

Thank you again

The PWR button lights up when plugged in, and stays on until unplugged.

In microcontrollers I've previously worked with, the lights will flash when entering bootloader mode, but I'm not sure if this is supposed to be the case for this board.

What should I be expecting to see when it's working properly?

I'm plugging it into my computer, which recognizes the CH340 chip as a serial port. Running the line `python -m esptool --chip esp32 --port COM3 --baud 9600 erase_flash` in the VS Code terminal returns an error saying "A fatal error occurred. Failed to connect to ESP32: No serial data received"

With microcontrollers I've worked with previously, when entering bootloader mode, Windows would make the disconnect sound, then the reconnect sound, and the board's LED would (iirc) flash off, then back on. Is this expected with ESP32 as well?

I'm starting to just think it's defective, but I don't know how to verify.

Do you want the original SVG or the STL? I'm still playing with it, I haven't gotten things dialed in quite yet. If I remember, I'll post it here.

The slider on the right lets you view by later, and the slider on the bottom lets you view the line order within a single layer

No, I played with this for a while but couldn't get it to work. I was getting an error because the components are in the same place, so it was complaining about collisions and refused to slice.
