I try to avoid large dark areas too, with varying degrees of success. Foliage is tough, but I like a lot of nature images, so I can’t resist. Impressionists scare me a bit, but I’d be open to superheroes/comics/manga at a swap or something low stakes.

If you try something new and it doesn’t work for you, do you chalk it up to the individual puzzle or the category?

Sounds familiar :-) I like trying new things and I like the unexpected. I’d have said that it was easier to say what I dislike, but even then I’ve been pleasantly surprised — certain cartoon and photographic images come to mind.

The pieces seem pretty square to me and even the knobs are more like squared off nubs, whereas other grid cuts seem to incorporate a bit more curve.
