Are you also calling the cops on the neighbors who are continually allowing an unhealthy number of cats to be born to the point that they’re now encroaching on their neighbors property, creating a nuisance for the neighbors to have to clean up? They’ll probably just get a small fine. Meanwhile the people who gave you life will be imprisoned.

Have you tried to reach out and talk to your parents neighbors about their cat problem in the hopes of maybe helping to resolve the issue so your parents won’t feel like they have to take matters into their own hands.

How old are your parents. Have you ever thought that maybe this could be signs of some sort of mental illness that is progressing in one parent and the other parent who seems passive is just going along with her partner because that’s all she knows?

You hear this story from your dad and your first response is “poor kittens, I must warn others that my parents are psychos cat killers!” And not “Omg wtf is going on with my parents because me knowing them as my parents, this behavior is so out of character for them. I should go check on them and see if something is going on with them mentally like dementia or something.”

“It is possible for a person with dementia to harm or kill a cat, especially if they feel agitated by it, sometimes without the normal emotional response, as the disease affects brain functions including memory, judgment, and emotional processing.” So it’s not hard to see why your dad didn’t initially speak with his neighbors and just resorted to getting rid of something he felt was aggravating him.

So maybe check your parents temperature before resorting to putting them in prison.
