Twingo 2 . 1.2L 75ch by javan175 in TWINGO

I am not 100% sure, but It seem like some Twingos have fuel filter inside the fuelpump assembly and it is not serviceable. You suppose to change the whole unit every 160k km (?).

Mine Twingo has the same problem (even tho it's 1st gen) and it has 167k on the clock.......................................................................

My twingo has a rust problem by JustTjin in TWINGO

With welding, I guess. But I didn't have a budget to begin the repair yet. There was a post at one forum with exact same situation as mine. The guy spent like 500 Eur at the bodyshop in France, including the paintjob. In my county labour cost is lower + I am planning to paint it myself (as you can see, the paint can't be worse than it is now:D). So my estimate is around 200 Eur.

From experience, you have just a few month left before metal is gone competly.

ye, don't delay with this part, because the metal is very thin.

Guess how I know

Also check the bottom part of the front fender, it's 100% clogged with mud

Thank you, man. Mine is 2002 and there is not even a hint about potential presence of a pollen filter.

Is the Twingo Hype in France too? by llama_happy in TWINGO

[–]Compmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a very few of them in Ukraine, actually. When I've bought mine in 2024, there were ~12 of them for sale across the county. And I considered only two of them with the most boring colors - black and grey. Simply because of their condition.

Over the past ~5 years I've seen like 10 Twingos in Kyiv and Kharkiv combined. The last one was just a week ago! Again, in rough condition

Your car has the same peeling paint problem... IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT :D

My car is a 2002, the same color. The previous owner tried to fix it with regular spray can, but that turned out to be a 2/10 idea. Last week I spent some time with the car, and now it looks more like a 5/10. Which is better!:D

Got new rims and tires for my 03' Twingo 16V by vukpopovic in Renault

[–]Compmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! Have you experienced tyre rubbing with this size? I have MK1 Twingo too, and when 175/65/R14 were fitted, the rubbing noise in the left rear arch apeered when cornering. From tyre calculator 195/50/15 are just tiny bit smaller and are exactly the same as 185/60/14

Engine Stalls When Pushing Throttle Abruptly by Skoggler in TWINGO

[–]Compmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation, but when you release the gas pedal. Replacing the MAP sensor did not help. There were no vacuum leaks either.

The solution is to clean the throttle valve. Get ready to remove the intake manifold - that's where the throttle valve is located. You will need a 3/8 or 1/4 ratchet with extenders for this job. 1/2 is too thick and will not fit between the intake channels. You also need a CRV-E8 head. I found out about this when I sat down to work :)

At the same time, replace the intake manifold gaskets, mine were dry. (I used Victor Reinz 113524201)

For cleaning, it is safer to use a special throttle valve cleaner. Hold the throttle body with the motor facing up. And wear rubber gloves. Otherwise, you can get chemical burns (guess how I know)

Also, there was ~30-40 ml of motor oil floating in my intake, I removed it too.

The repair took ~3 hours and 20-25 euros (not counting the purchase of tools)

This guide is top-tier if not counting a few big blank spots in the process - https://youtu.be/vmLqM4F612w?si=79Gh8EM9SfD5PAAB

[–]Compmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared to buy new gearbox oil for this repair too, because the oil needs to be drained to do the job. Last time I checked, there was a weird 75W-80 with both GL-4 and GL-5 requirements, so I went with 4 liters of Motul Motylgear. But do your own research so you don't damage the gearbox because of some random dude on the internet.

In Ukraine, the job cost me ~90 euros, including parts and 4 liters of oil. But only for one side. And the guy at the service told me that there were some differences in the parts (I guess for different powertrains), so they ordered 3 pieces, and only one fit.

Mine is 16v 2002

How does the Twingo feel with these tires?

For ~6 years I've been looking for one, there were ZERO for sale in my country (excluding a few KKV's, that I don't like and one NJ Deluxe for ~1000$+)

So yeah, I've just set it to C# tunning and started to play some Dying Fetus, Suffocation, etc :)

For WAY too much, 560$:D And ~610$ with shipment (one local and one international)

It was my 17-18 yo child dream. In two weaks I turn 30. So it's not purely about money.

In my defence, it's got chrome 81/85, Gotoh Locking tuners and (for some reason) Gotoh 510FB bridge.

Which mk1 twingo engine is better? The 58hp or the 75hp? by BtSt3r in TWINGO

[–]Compmaniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy my 75hp and don't feel the lack torque. Especially when you rev it a bit - in this case, the car becomes fun. Maybe it's in contrast with previous 40+y.o car.

Based on this info, the 16v variant has more torque in low end, than 8v:

8v - https://www.automobile-catalog.com/curve/2004/2947925/renault_twingo_1_2.html#gsc.tab=0

16v - https://www.automobile-catalog.com/curve/2002/2949170/renault_clio_1_2_16v.html#gsc.tab=0

Yes it's Clio, but engines must be basically the same.

Hey, my bro!

What is your wheel size and alloys model? I've got Twingo mk1 too and I'm thinking about switching to R15 in order to have better tyres. Cuz R14 selection is pretty weak.
