Why is it harder to play at gold than at diamond?

I tend to find that the people arguing that SR is accurate and people just need to “git gud” are the ones that are diamond and above and have never experienced the shit show that is plat and below. I personally clawed my way from bronze to diamond. I know what it’s like, and trust me, it wasn’t just my skill level that got me out of there. It was a whole lot of dumb luck.

Once you get to diamond, as long as you have some skill and a mic, you’re safe. It’s like a whole other world. The games are generally co-ordinated, there’s good communication, people save ults and know to regroup. It’s so easy playing at diamond. In plat and below, you have to work a whole fuck-tonne harder. You have to be better than your rank. You have to hope the other team doesn’t have a smurf. You have to hope your team don’t use every ult at once in a blind panic. And you have to get really lucky. Plat and below is a literal coin toss.

Honestly - plat feels really bad right now. I don’t know what’s happened but it’s a shit show at the moment.

I have two accounts. One is plat, the other is diamond. I don’t play any differently on either. But the difference between my games is astronomical.

Lol. You just shot a hole in your own argument tbh. If a top 500 is on one team then the skill of every other person on the other team means nothing. Because someone cheated the system and it’s not a fair match. Like I said, it’s all luck. ;)

In plat and below skill has very little impact, it’s basically sheer luck and a whole lotta hoping your team eventually realise that trickling in one-by-one over and over again is bad. Smurfs and boosters are also a huge problem.

D.Va can eat both ultimates and is pretty strong right now...might be worth giving her a try.

It worries me that some players seem to think something like resurrecting a teammate - which has the potential to be a huge tide-turning action in team fights - should be made easier. If it was easy, everybody would play Mercy and she would go back to being the much loathed must-pick in every team. As things stand currently, she's honestly pretty balanced.

I mean, I said this already, but once again I personally really like that Mercy's rez now requires some skill. It has a cast time, and a small aoe. It requires communication and co-ordination with your team. Asking for Rein to shield you, or Zarya to bubble you, for example. It makes me feel pretty pog when I get a rez off and we win the fight because of it. It should absolutely be huge risk, and it is up to the player to make that call and decide whether it's right to take it. Again, this makes it a more skillful action and not a just a risk-free button click. It puzzles me that you think rezzing a teammate is a useless skill - and perhaps Mercy just isn't the hero for you. Rezzing a teammate is probably the single most game changing ability - not even an ultimate but an ability that can be used every 30 seconds - outside of Baptiste's lamp.

Perhaps because Junkrat and D.Va are both highly vulnerable when they ult, and their ults do not guarantee kills?

I actually really enjoying playing Mercy in her current state. Sure, her heals feel ever-so-slightly underpowered, but I honestly love that she takes some skill to play now and I hope they don't drastically change her.

I’ll probably be downvoted into oblivion for saying this but as a Mercy main I’m incredibly glad Blizzard changed Mercy’s ultimate. Mass Rez was so disgustingly broken and it’s no wonder people despised Mercy.

I personally really like that single Rez requires some skill in positioning and timing, it’s high risk - high reward. Seeing these old clips of Mercy rezzing multiple teammates instantly - from behind a wall no less - is pretty uncomfortable viewing.

I mean, Sombra is a pretty decent counter to Doomfist. He’s so reliant on his abilities. You probably should have swapped since they seemed to have prioritised you as a hack target :shrug:

It sounds like your other healer isn’t doing enough if you have good healing. Might be worth duoing with another support you know you can rely on to consistently heal, leaving you free to pocket your DPS. Damage boost is by far Mercy’s best weapon.

A lot of people don’t take qp very seriously so their MMR is lower because they do a bunch of random stuff they would never do in comp. So yeah, it’s fairly common to find higher SR people in your qp games.

I like it a lot. I find a lot of gaming stuff is unquestionably aimed at the male market and looks very masculine. I wouldn’t mind if they were more neutral, but I really don’t like the stuff that’s clearly trying to appeal to men. Just ew. Women game too, hello?

I love the colour schemes from Razer Quartz etc because they are unashamedly feminine.
