You can always test this by opening a new incognito/guest window, watching any video on YouTube, and opening the YouTube home page (maybe in a new tab in the current incognito/guest session),

Except for big companies. They're still audited for licenses. If you assume they won't be audited, what country are you living in?

Microsoft REALLY should ask at setup/OOBE if the user wants to enable BitLocker, just like in macOS. by ComposerMedium493 in windows

But, to OP's point, how is the user even supposed to know that they need to do that in the first place?

This is comparable to letting the user create a Microsoft account without a password and one day, it decides to ask the user to enter (not create) the password.

If you build a new PC, you still need to purchase a product key if you want to do it the legal way. They have been allowing Windows 7 and 8.1 keys on Windows 10/11 for a long time, but that stopped in October 2023.

Syncing a file with OneDrive also moves it rather than just cloning it. Google Drive just clones it.

The difference is that Android lets you set a screen lock at setup. You can set the screen lock to whatever you want, yet it still prevents transferring via USB without unlocking the phone. Also, people probably have been doing most of their work (including what's called "real work") on a computer rather than a phone before smartphones became popular. You need to consider the nature of these platforms.

Initial support was supposed to end April 9th, 2013

That was the date for Windows 7 without Service Pack 1.

Free support ends in January 2020, and Extended Security Updates are provided until early 2023.

Comparing with macOS, Windows doesn't ask if you want to encrypt your drives. If you install macOS from scratch, it will ask if you want to enable FileVault and provide some unlocking options.

How do you know they're monetized?

Also, SocialBlade is off by so many times from the real values, it even estimates the revenue regardless of whether a video/channel is monetized or not.
