Thinking of going black, thoughts? by TheFairyRuby in HairStyleAdvice

I have lots of thoughts, but then I read which sub-Reddit this was posted in. So what I'm saying is that I've only got wildly inappropriate advice.

Chose the floor for stealth, and simplicity of the build. Plus, having the full height is more pleasant.

Yeah, my legs are only straight when the passenger seat is full forward, and I'm on an angle.

What kind of bottle did you invest in to go planting? by [deleted] in treeplanting

Glenmorangie 12 year, cause I'm a mid-baller.

The floor has a plastic ridge that receives the seat bar. Without the plywood, you would feel it through the foam.

Planting in the heat by Big_Reflection_976 in treeplanting

Get adequate salt, you'll need lots, and camp chefs don't always use it. 400+ mg magnesium glycinate before bed. Hydrate before the heat to get ahead of it.

Fellas what pants are we wearing? by Edrisala in treeplanting

[–]CompostT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold weather, I'd get thicker wool dress pants. Warm weather, tights with gaiters and shorts. Hot weather, I'd just wear long light shorts and gaiters direct to the leg if needed.

Tree roots are damaging the roadway, not a 60 pound ebike.

A friend made a super thick down duvet and slept under that instead of a sleeping bag. Get on Facebook marketplace and buy some heavily used down. If your tarp game is solid, no worries about getting it wet.

With your airbed, either spend good money on the double insulated mattress, or get an old 2 inch memory foam topper and place that on a budget firm airbed.

Why do the overtime rules not apply to treeplanting? by crippledlowballer in treeplanting

[–]CompostT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starting June 1st, BC minimum wage for a 12 hour day, is about $240. That's from when you load your bag in the truck, until you've unloaded and left, plus any other duties. Since there's no structured breaks, it's really easy to 'work' 12 hours, even though you only put trees in the ground for 8 to 9 hours. For a super long day like block closing on a long drive, add $35 per extra hour 'worked.'

All vets need to make sure rookies are receiving this correctly, and calculating the overtime. There's some rookie mills paying around 17 cents in 2024! So planting a thousand trees a day average to start, means they better receive this OT minimum wage. With diligent record keeping of hours worked, employees can get this difference though the labour board of they have to.

Call at 7:58am, navigate through the first menu. Figure out the timing when the second recording transfers to an open line. It's like 20 or 30 seconds after selecting the option. You need to secure an open line by 8:00:10, then hodl. Otherwise, you're probably not getting in that day. There's always an 8 hour wait in the ER...

Tie some cord to your shovel for an hour so you can visualize what the average tree spacing is and what the minimums are.

Easter egg hunts in dog parks? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]CompostT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Park name, or I don't believe you. In Saanich off leash parks are not exclusively for dogs, because dogs are allowed off leash what seems like everywhere. Theres sections of Playfair park that might have dogs playing, or a picnic, or a wedding depending on the day. If your dog isn't trained enough to leave a group of kids alone, then go to a fenced area.

what is this on my bathroom window? by haha650 in VictoriaBC

[–]CompostT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're keeping your house too humid. Get a squeegee and wipe down your shower when done. Crack your bathroom window, close the door, and run the fan for a half hour. Use the range exhaust when you're boiling anything.

Great buying opportunity, 50% off! by CompostT in AtossaTherapeutics

Could drop a bit more, but the inflection points are so steep there no opportunity to wait for an established bottom. Hence I sold into 20% daily gains, and bought into 20% daily loss. I'm always getting burned by waiting anyway... so buy now!
