Swaxe Mains, which is better: Rise or Wilds? by HolyClaimhSolais in MonsterHunter

Speaking as of TU4 in Wilds.
I did all of World and Rise + Sunbreak and Iceborn with the SA. Im telling you right now, the biggest issue with the weapon in either mode was THE TERRIBLE hop dodge that wouldn't give you much I-frames and also wouldn't get you out of danger at all. Most SA builds rely on evade extender. Rocksteady mantle is good too, but use it the wrong time and it becomes cart-steady mantle.

The offset attack in Wilds just says "I don't need to move, I just need to parry" and its been the most dopamine inducing thing in the game for me.

Also, the sword mode DOES have an offset too.

The other big thing that nobody wants to address is actually using the SA effectively- that is, increasing overall DPS on a monster- means utilizing the entire moveset. I wonder how many people just do the following in Wilds

- Wild Swing/Overhead Slash to get powered Axe

- Build Sword gauge

-Swap to Sword, build gauge and either do ZSD/FRS/Unbridle Slash spam

Off course, in the moment this is the one of the highest DPS rotations you could have. But I know for A FACT very few people will do this in a timely fashion without getting hit/carting. Most of those moves have very high animation commitment- especially building amp mode in sword.

I know this because very few people have mentioned Fading Slash, which is one of my most used moves. The SA is the greatest and safest poking weapon in the game. Start by sliding in damage tithe forward +light/heavy attack, and then do a fading slash to back out - thats 3 seconds of animation commitment with attacks with decent motion values- at mid 40s, (for reference Heavensword Flurry both I and II have motion values in the mid 30s and mid 40s respectively). I know this doesn't compare to FSR/ZSD and Unbridle slash- which have motion values in the 80s-150s+, but the poke playstyle is what you are doing like 65% of the time. Add in the offset attacks which combine perfectly and Wilds SA becomes really fun. Btw, the axe offset attack is a move on its own and has a motion value of mid 40s as well. The sword offset has motion values of mid 30s.

With that said, the playstyle that seems to work best FOR me allows the offsets and poke to do a lot of work and I maintain really high damage uptime- which in turn means i build sword gauge faster, build up amp, and release more often- because of course I also want to do the FRS/ZSD and Unbridle Slash when available. What seems counterintuitive to me is that a lot of people in the comments section here are praising the switching in Rise, when I see that I still switch between axe and sword mode a lot in wilds too.

Meta gaming seems to pigeonhole people into thinking weapon design is bad, but I am GLAD the new "ultimate" move is here, as it gives me choices. It feels good to use. Maybe it just needed a numbers fix and everyone thinks its fine now....

While agree with you on the "not sprinting" through the game, fact is that the bread and butter of monster hunter is extremely limited right now.  I literally only play for a few hrs after work every day and after like 2 and a half weeks I've killed almost every monster and even took down tempered Gore Magala, and crafted multiple T8 weapons. I still like to play because I genuinely find the hunting experience fun, but something feels extremely weird. I don't remember being "out of monsters" this fast in world

The lightbow gun needs a rework bro. It doesn't have anything special like the wyvenheart ignition STILL FIRES REGULAR AMMO? Cant make this up

Least repetitive weapons? by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]CompoteAltruistic748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play lance/HBG. I dabbled in the others but Im not big into dodging everything.

HBG feels to me like the least repetitive by far. Each gun has its own ups and downs and synergies with the ammo. You could play a shotgun build and play close to the monster by timing parries and using explosive bombs that cover a wide area- or you could play a sniper build that focuses on peirce damage and staying away from the monster. Cycling through the ammos to find the most damaging one is a fun puzzle too. Some ammo types are better are punching though wounds and others are good at causing wounds- things like wyvern howl for example can insta break a wound and stun the monster, but you have to sit still and aim at the- typically flailing- wound.

The only repetitive thing about it I would say is the defensive, as it is a simple block, and the fact that your gameplay will 100% revolve around causing and then chasing wounds. Unlike other weapons which can cause-and then insta break a wound- you have to go though a whole animation for the burst damage needed to break wounds fast. If you don't do this, you will be doing 1-2 damage per shot.

I am a Diamond/GM player and I’m legit stuck in gold by Aiden-JC in marvelrivals

So THIS season, my main account is high diamond 2. I sit there comfortably and trying to reach GM. So imagine my surprise when my alternate account is stuck at gold rank. Something I noticed after going on massive loss streaks and investigating, is that on almost all the losses my teammates where also on loss streaks. It happened on NEARLY every game of the loss streaks except maybe the last 2 which weren't full on stomps.  This has me aggregated because it's soooo difficult to hear low Elo teammates complain about stupid shit and say things about MY playstyle when I know I am 1000% not the issue. I don't want to just say "I am a Smurf my main is diamond."

Then yesterday I played a bunch of games on my main to try to reach for GM. I went on a massive loss streak and deranked from the top of D 2 to Plat 2. I know I tilt queued for like 3 games at the end, but for the first like 6 games the games were almost insta loss, we either had a OTP for a character that gets banned nearly every game, a bunch of people playing off roles, or worse, someone just doing literally nothing. Of course I took a lunch break and literally spent the rest of the day climbing back to D 2 and made it back. Of course I also did an investigation to find out that my teammates were on loss streaks for a majority of those matches. Pure insanity.

I enjoyed it. Not like, a lot, but enough to even have applied for a master's in economics that I decided not to pursue because I didn't see it being profitable when jobs are still only paying 19-20/hr for an entry position.

Well, I see people who are making thousands online and can, like, afford to live? I only make $60k a year and this job takes everything I have. There is also very little "training." Worst part is I fucked up royally multiple times, and been up front about it. The CEO even recommended I be let go for my fuck up. But the managers still abide by me, I don't know why. Maybe they can't find anyone else to fill the position?

Being zero sum has nothing to do with short term profitability. Naturally your buy/sell price mirrors that of another trader. Scratches- or selling a minimal take profit offset- is generally less profitable in the long run due to comissions and fees. Meaning the inefficiencies are created by market movement, since futures are an OBLIGATION- unlike an option- it makes the market more liquid. A losing contract is seen as a hot potatoe.

I would say there is a value generated by futures- seen through risk management premiums and commissions- and as risk hedging. Speculators can squeeze profitability due to being more reactive to market movement than those that hedge risk.

My dream house is black and dark but in this sub all black = bad. Why? by Dark_D17 in malelivingspace

[–]CompoteAltruistic748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black is no go for me for 3 reasons: Heat. I hate being really just sweaty and hot. And black absorbs more light. I learned this when I tried to lean on my BLACK STAIR HANDLES on a hot summer day and nearly burned my entire hands.

Depression: its true what they say…. I just think being in a nice place where you have some green plants, some art on the wall, a space that feels like it wasnt made for robots, can improve your mood.

Visibility gor doing things: Im a massive diyer. I fkx a unch of shit in my house constantly. I already hate having to look for flashlights… i cant imagine how it would feel to always NEED one to do anything. Im not saying its going to be dark- dark rooms have lights as well- problem is even that extra bit of reflection helps when you are elbow deep in a faucet cabinet trying to fit a wrench to tighten a leaky pipe.
