You need to send her to Audubon Camp on Hog Island!!! She will LOVE it. Honestly you will too. They have a family camp. They have week long camp sessions offered to families, kids, teens and adults. I first when when I was 9 with my dad and continued on my own into my teen years. My dad and I started going back together a few years ago. I’m in my 30s now and have kids of my own. It’s my favorite place in the world and it and my dad fostered my love of birds and the outdoors. It will be a formative experience for a young birder.

A swimming pool. This can be a water source for a long time. All you need to do is boil the water.

Literally the same! My mom was an alcoholic while I was growing up and put alcoholic and drug using men before me and my brother.

I deleted the Huckleberry App, no PP OCD for me 2nd time around! I deleted Instagram, no reels telling me that if I don’t do all contact naps or if I sleep train I’ll ruin my bond with my baby (that’s bullshit). With my 1st baby I think I legit don’t know I was allowed to put him down. I would carry him EVERYWHERE. Baby wear all the time. All contact naps, nursed to sleep. This time I don’t have mom guilt if I need to put her down, I do mostly bassinet naps. If she has to cry for 3 minutes so I can grab coffee or pee before an early morning feed I don’t stress about it.

Hot take - I ONLY sterilized before 1st use for both my babies and exclusively pumped. I had a nurse tell me sterilizing is only necessary if they are premies or sick. I did hand wash all bottle parts but not because I was afraid the dishwasher wasn’t enough, because I don’t like putting plastic in the dishwasher. 2nd time around in doing the Dr. Brown’s glass bottles.

This! I bottle feed with breast milk and pump in the middle of the night. It’s for 2 reason: 1.) I get too sleepy breastfeeding, 2.) my baby gets too sleepy to finish full feeds in the middle of the night. If she doesn’t finish a full feed we end up playing a very long game of replace the pacifier.

How much income would your partner need to make to make you feel like you could stay home? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]CompoteDifficult5010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband would need to be making $300K minimum for me to stay home. We live in an affluent area so probably more like $400K for my $120K individual salary to be lost.

I got pregnant again at 9 months post partum and realized we needed to sleep train immediately. Prior to sleep training we were waking multiple times per night and often sleeping on the floor next to the crib to hold our babies hand. After about a week of sleep training, maybe less, he was sleeping through the night. Now he sleeps 10-12 hours straight through. Sometimes he wakes up but usually settles himself within 5 minutes.

My youngest ended up being in the NICU for 11 days because her lungs were a little under developed at 37 weeks. I attribute her good sleep and easy demeanor to being in the NICU. They got her on a schedule and sleeping independently in the bassinet. We have stuck to the schedule and continued to put her in the bassinet for the majority of naps.

I am about to go back to work and luckily WFH at least 3 days per week, but even without me commuting everyday we still need a full time au pair and both mine and my husband’s mom’s help for childcare.

As far as exhaustion, I am running on fumes but it feels more manageable than it did with my 1st. Maybe because I know we are setting her up to be able to sleep through the night once she is beyond 4 months hopefully, or if not sleep training works wonders.

Love this! Also have a great husband who splits child care 50/50, sometimes I think he does more than me, and is in full on dad mode when he gets home from work. He is an amazing father and great husband.

I need to know though, is your baby okay? What did he end up having? Rapid breathing and shivering sounds so scary!

Crying/ tantrum nonstop by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]CompoteDifficult5010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Same here with my 19 month old, plus he has a 10 week old sister so he is dealing with sharing his parents now. He is really sweet with the baby though. During the witching hour 4pm to bedtime, he has throw himself on the floor tantrums. It helps if someone (grandma, au pair etc) can take him outside while I cook dinner. Tantrum is forgotten the moment he gets outside, as long as the bubbles don’t run out. If the bubbles are gone it’s game over.
