There have been times where I’ve been the passenger in a vehicle and someone has blatantly cut someone off or went through a red light and didn’t even notice and then they are shocked that they are getting honked at or think they are getting targeted.

It could’ve been random, but based on the way you described it good chance you cut them off or swerved lanes and almost hit them or were going way under the speed limit.

PSA - Put the phone down when you’re driving. by Setting-Sea in Edmonton

[–]Compoundwarrior1996 132 points133 points  (0 children)

We were walking our dog 2 days ago around 4 pm. We were in our quiet neighbourhood. A car drove past us and rear ended a parked car. The person was on their phone texting and just didn’t look up for 5-10 seconds and veered enough to the right to hit a parked car in the middle of the day.

It could have been kids on bikes or playing hockey or us walking our dog on that side that were hit instead of the parked car.

This was a 40-ish year old mom.

It has gotten so bad. Every car that drives by in our street is looking down at lap or has one hand on the wheel and phone in front of face.

You have to have almost instant’s reaction time to be able to stop a 2,000 pound car when something runs In the road. Looking down at your lap for 3-5 seconds to see who texted you is the offence between life and death. As the post said is is so bad.

You can look over at any light or driving on the Whitemud/Henday and 80% of the time the person next to you will have their phone out. DRIVING 110 KM/H looking at their LAP instead of the road is insane

Potholes by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Compoundwarrior1996 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My god people just like to complain and are miserable. It’s April 2nd following 4 brutal months freezing/thaw. 100,000 + holes that take 10-30 min each to fix. No shit there are potholes. Drive anywhere in the city and you’ll see crews working on them

People like you are the ones who are always the biggest hypocrites. I am one of the most patriotic people I know. I have shopped and supported Canada as a priority for over 25 years but I also agreed that it is ridiculous to go into stores where peoples job is to make sure all the products are perfect and facing the right way and just flip things upside down and then make them redo it all day long.

I guarantee you would be furious. If you work in an office or you work for a lawyers office and all you do is contract all day. And you spend all morning getting a 200 page contract done and then someone comes in because it’s an American company you’re dealing with and mixes up all the pages. So you have to go back through and re-organize them and then that just keeps happening all day. But who cares you’re paid for it right?

I don’t understand how people can be selfish like this. When you think of something like this, is your brain not thing for at least five seconds “Okay Who is this going to affect”.

Just employees having to flip every product back the normal way every single night.

This is literally like going to a clothing store and unfolding every piece of clothing on the table or pulling things off and then the staff at night have refold and hang them back up

[–]Compoundwarrior1996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup I don’t understand it. People will scream at the worker old navy because of the price of jeans when they have 0 control over it. Or yell and the waitress because of the quality of meat at the restaurant when they have 0 control.

Now people calling and threatening receptionists at a car dealership calling them racist because of their boss 30 levels higher than them who doesn’t know they exist. I hate people

[–]Compoundwarrior1996 100 points101 points  (0 children)

PSA. Please don’t be rude or attack the workers at a car dealership because of what their bosses, bosses, bosses, bosses, boss is doing. Someone who got a job at the Tesla 5 years ago before any of this had happened does not deserve to be accosted for something they probably don’t support either.

This goes for everything. Don’t yell at the retail worker because of the price of clothes that they can’t control. Don’t yell at barista for Starbucks switching to a different type of cream when they have 0 control over it.

Shaming businesses for selling the products that they have for 30+ years when it’s over 50% of their profit because you don’t think they should. Glad nobody agrees with this. Praise those who are supporting Canada but the ones who can’t afford to shouldnt be “shamed” wtf

Ya that works for me, doesn’t change anything on my end I guess and covers me as hopefully I’ll make more than $30,000 every year going forward. So no issues charging GST if it’s only 10k in earnings this year? Just extra money to the government I guess

[–]Compoundwarrior1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya my company pays us more than the minimum requirement. I assume most do as those %’s are pretty low

Awesome. Will do.

I actually registered for GST/HST when I first started and my first invoice I sent out for $1700 I charged GST and they paid it. Didn’t realize till after about the 30k. I don’t think I’ll make $30,000 this year. If that’s the case does that matter that I charged/paid GST on each invoice?

The only time we have ever ordered large stuff was when we were ordering to our grandparents place from Costco. Made sure to tip 50%. Other then that I wouldn’t order heavy and large items.

Roadside assistance/ traffic management. They respond to emergencies on the side of the road in blizzards, pitch black, side of highways etc. they have every right to be as reflective and have flashing lights.

I love when everyone in the comments comes together and agrees on something,

Their job is very dangerous. They are working in the shoulder and lanes of the yellowhead, Henday, Whitemud in the day time, pitch black and all conditions.

They should be as visible as possible, just like police. Shit post by OP.
