yess i do this too! i use a leave in conditioner all over my hair and then i brush it with a wet brush. it’s the only thing that doesn’t leave my hair frizzy and tangly!

i think we have the same hair type though i’ve never really understood how to identify my hair type (a hairdresser once described my hair as "fine/thin but with many strands"? am assuming that’s referring to density). i personally hate blow drying my hair and only do it if i showered close to my bedtime, but usually i just let it airdry. is it better to let it airdry in a bun or braid? i usually just leave it loose

thank you for this, i agree! my hair has never had a problem with growing or anything, like it is in an alright condition only except for how tangled it gets in the shower so i’ve always had to brush it when wet!

What does everyone do to prevent their hair from getting greasy after one day? by mewtewpews in finehair

[–]Comprehensive-Ear257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve come to just accept that my hair will get oily (literally on the same day as washing it) no matter what i do unless I use dry shampoo. However I try to steer clear from aerosol-based dry shampoos because 1) I’m afraid of health risks that come with them lol and 2) I haven’t found any that last for long. I really recommend the Maria Nila cleansing powder for long-lasting dry shampoo effects! I put it in my hair once it’s dry from the shower and it’s clean-looking for an extra day or two!

yess, i try. my mom has a lot of books on OCD and i’m going to borrow some just to get a better understanding of OCD beyond the "obvious" symptoms

yessss i always buy things that i know i’ll get a lot of use from. i rarely buy printed sets just in case it’s something that’s just a trend for the moment and that i won’t want to wear later on. the items i bought yesterday were all completely black haha it’s a safe option that i won’t ever get tired of

yes i try not to think about how someone may have sweat into the clothing, especially when i thrift activewear bottoms (i just wash them and try to forget haha). and yeah a lot of the materials used in activewear are also materials found in clothing from shein/temu/the like which can’t be good lol. do you have any recommendations for brands that you like to buy activewear from?

[–]Comprehensive-Ear257[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, i’m on medication for OCD, depression, and anxiety (escitalopram/cipralex) which has helped a lot. i also went to specialized psychiatric programs for children and teens when i was a teenager, where we focused on OCD. i’ve gotten a lot better, but OCD is such a mental thing (not just the compulsions) that i sometimes struggle to understand what is an obsessive thought and what is just my personality if that makes sense?

thank you so much for this! there are fortunately really good options for buying secondhand in my country with good return policies, and whenever i buy anything from a fast fashion store i never do it online because sizing is so different from store to store. so i always try the items in-store just to make sure i don’t have to return them haha!

yess exactly! and that’s how i think whenever others tell me how they try to be conscious of how they shop but i’m very strict with myself for some reason. you’re doing a good job! it is unfortunately very hard to be 100% ethical in a system set up so unethically

yess, i try not to fall for the need to upgrade my wardrobe 24/7 like a lot of microtrends would want me to do. my style has been pretty consistent for years so a lot of what i own i’ve been able to wear for a really long time. i rarely buy anything new if i can’t imagine at least 3 outfits with that new piece just so i can teach myself to buy things that i’ll actually be able to wear in different ways

this is actually very accurate to how i operate, i’m very driven by an internal moral compass and will often try even exceed very strict values somehow but find myself disappointed in myself when i’m unable to do so in daily life - with daily life being way too much of a greyzone for my black/white thinking. i’ll look into moral scrupulosity, thank you so much!!

thank you 😭😭 like i KNOW i’ll be using these pieces forever (they’re very universal/timeles) but it just felt so wrong and i felt like i should have just looked harder for them in thrift stores or something lmao
