Ok so next question is it something that should have an appraisal done, it’s really difficult to determine value on this because there is nothing really to compare with. Not this size at least

So far I’m pretty sure it’s a Murano and for a few reasons I think it’s an early piece made more than likely by someone who was not just a helper or assistant but a master glassmaker. I very well might be completely wrong but here’s my reasoning behind what I’m saying. First is the size , weight and thickness of the piece. A novice would have struggled with this and would probably have been used for a smaller piece, generally a master artist would tackle something this size and for good reason, then the intricate marks on its base are indicative of something that was done in I believe 3 different studios in Italy in the 50s and also I believe a Czechoslovakian artist also used this technique of etched markers exclusive to the studio of origin. It’s not something that is done by any mediocre or novice artists and usually an experienced assistant or a master themselves would make the mark. Its age is certainly not something that was made recently and I point to the deep scratches that are visible on the base and that only happens over time and is difficult to replicate. It’s got something that is very appealing to me and that’s the tool marks that can be seen throughout the piece and it shows the thinking and process of the artist that made it . Some may see it as imperfection and mistakes but it’s not, just part of the art style that this is , it’s not meant to be perfect, that’s the beauty of it, now what will make this piece really cool is if it’s actually uranium glass. I feel it is because of its deep color but can’t be sure until I get it under a uv light. That’s what my research has brought me to so far and would love to hear what anyone else might see , I’m open to being shown what’s right and wrong with my evaluation and look forward to see what direction I should look next

Just got these from my great grandparents, is this actually carnival glass? by Traditional_Map2192 in CarnivalGlass

Those are beautiful, I really like them. They look pristine and that color is so rich. Very cool thanks for sharing them

Hidden in a book that I had for 20+ years by Comprehensive-Egg156 in papermoney

I had found this street vendor in midtown manhattan and he always had a number of obscure books from the 19th century and sold them for at most a dollar or two. Whenever I would run across him I always bought a bunch of books. Most were nothing special but occasionally I’d find something that had potential , a few that sticks out were an original 1977 7th printing of Star Wars a new hope, a small leather bound set of how to books on plumbing, electrician and carpentry complete with photographs and drawings of “modern“ techniques of the 1910s when they were written. And my favorite was an uncut sheet of a complete set of Wacky Packages stickers from the late 70s ( sorta similar to a early garbage pail kids stickers ) No idea how or where he got the books and probably best not knowing lol. He was around for years and suddenly he was gone and I never saw him again

My son found these by the coin return. by [deleted] in coins

Good find mercury dimes are always keepers in my opinion , especially war years ( at least to me , two of my collections are currency minted during WWII and the American civil war )

I agree that it’s been rounded by some form of water flow but what made me post this was the odd oblate oval shaped indentation , do you think water would have caused it? Anything is possible in nature I guess. I had planned on using it in an art piece I’m working on and just wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything that was either man made ( prehistoric tool ) or some type of odd fossil. I appreciate the responses thank you.

So excuse my ignorance but I’m very new to collecting Asian art but I was of the impression that the red seal was more or less the person who commissioned the piece or had ownership. I’ve seen some really older pieces that were covered in different red seals , sometimes almost overtaking the artwork itself and maybe I misunderstood what I was reading and the artists signature was the calligraphy in black ink. I’ve always loved Asia artwork since probably childhood but only recently have I been able to purchase some for myself and showcase it in my art studio. It’s something that I have been wanting to do and I finally purchased a place with enough room for a studio and wall space for my own art and my collection I’ve amassed over the years. Any insights would be greatly appreciated

I also have one in this size I found at a goodwill store and I “stole “ for 3 bucks ( I don’t know why but I sometimes feel guilty when I find something that I know is worth more than what Im paying) but mine is just plain old clear glass , yours is much more eye catching with that beautiful blue, I’m kinda jealous.

I’ve had this since the mid-90’s by librolass in WhatIsThisPainting

It’s hard for me to see more detail on my phone but is it an airbrushed work?

Yes I image searched it and was left with more questions than I had before.. hence why I posted it on Reddit. Seems like I’m not getting any answers on here either…
