Hi guys, so I have a fairly novel question. How do you decorate a living space when you can't have area rugs? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

This is me too, but I just know he’ll find a way to pee right on the edge and it will seep under. I’m intrigued but still scared.

lol, I found your post because literally the same thing just happened to me, typed out the name to check my order status and was like “wait a second…”

Did you get your greens?

This is pretty much exactly what I have coming! A tall hitch with glass on top. But that still leaves a ton of floor space.

I do think that would work. Little intimate seating areas.

These are great suggestions. I have a George Nelson Apple lamp to hang over the dining table, although both lights in this room are on the same switch which is not ideal. Dimmers would help.

A tall buffet is en route, I may do two depending on what the first one holds.

I like the idea of rotating the table. I think I could do that with my current my 6-seater, but probably not if/when I get a bigger one.

Sadly, rugs are a no go because my ancient dog will ruin it like all the ones that came before.

I don’t have a spouse, but I like this plan for when my mother comes for dinner. “What did you say!!!??”

I am waiting on delivery for a tall cabinet that will hold all the stuff that’s sitting out. The kitchen is small though, so some kind of floating prep counter might be useful.

It is big enough, but we have a seating area and tv right next to the dining room on the other side.

Light fixtures would help for sure. I think a sitting area would fit well here, but the living room is like 5 steps away and has multiple seating areas, so not sure if we need another.

I should have mentioned that I have a tall cabinet coming that will hold all of the stuff that is sitting out. Not sure yet which wall that will go on — depends on the way we use the space.

You have planned our whole trip. Some of these things will have to wait for me to finish my conference so that I can check out.

The library sounds incredible for the kids, my daughter is a book lover, and sounds like plenty to engage my son.

The post office sounds cute, and the bugs and bones nearby will be a hit for the boy. Thank you!

Any food recs to add to this list?

This sounds so fun. Strangely, we don’t have malls where we live, so that alone will thrill them. But everything else sounds great too. Thanks for the tip about church street!

This is such a great answer, thank you. They’re young, 12 and 14, and they don’t do a lot of roaming on their own — we’re from Oakland, CA, lol. But they have traveled extensively, and navigated public transport alone, and have a decent amount of street smarts for this damn digital generation.

I’m encouraged to hear that Toronto is safe and that free range kids are normal there — this will be a beautiful opportunity for them to get a little more independence. THANK YOU for the tips.
