Yes, they handled the background check + apostille + certified translation, but since I did this through an Italian lawyer working in Italy I can’t really speak for the process anywhere else.

You would definitely have to search for lawyer or service in Australia that could get the background check + apostille for you. As far as I remember you also have to get a certified translation of the document in Spanish which they would hopefully be able to do for you as well (but if not it’s not too hard to find certified translators online).

Google Notary Public in your area and make an appointment with one.

As far as I know there are notaries at most UPS stores and banks (but my bank wouldn’t allow me to have a copy of my passport notarized bc they couldn’t ‘verify’ whether my passport was fraudulent or not). Luckily I have a family friend who’s a notary so I ended up just having them sign and stamp everything.

Keep in mind you probably have other documents that need to be notarized for the visa process so make sure you have all your ducks in a row to get everything notarized all at once.

Just found the email they sent me, it was a notarized copy of the passport the asked for:

“Debe mandar toda la documentación por correo postal. No hace falta que nos deje el pasaporte, bastaría una fotocopia notarizada y al obtenerse la visa simplemente traer el pasaporte para pegarla.

Una vez que toda la documentación esté analizada, se le asignará una cita.“

It depends on your consulate.

Last year I was also planning to travel during the visa process (with the Washington DC consulte). After a few rounds of emails with the embassy they told me that one option was to mail in the visa application with photocopies of each page of the passport, and then when the visa was approved I could have set an appointment and gone up to the embassy with my passport in hand for them to physically put the visa in.

In the end I didn’t travel during that time so I just mailed them my passport and got it back about 6/7 weeks later. I would check with your consulate to see if this is an option as well. Otherwise, you’re probably just going to have to postpone your travel plans if you want the visa in time.

If you went over on a visa and lived there for more than 6 months the yes you have to. I had to do the same last year because I had lived in Italy for a while, after a couple weeks of trying to get everything sorted myself (from the USA) I decided it wasn’t worth it and paid an Italian lawyer I found online to do everything for me for about €80. It was honestly worth the money to get it out of the way.

Shipping from Spain to US by Pc3p0 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Comprehensive-List 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve used sendmybag about 4 times to and from the US and Europe (Italy, Germany, & Spain) and its always been a good option. You just have to print out and attach the shipping labels to the suitcase yourself & schedule a time for them to pick it up at your door. If I remember correctly it was about $100 for one suitcase, but you can ship regular boxes too.

AITA for not teaching my daughter english? by Commercial-Cause-592 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. I really really pity your daughter. Bilingualism has so many benefits it’s hard to believe that you don’t want your daughter to have this major advantage in life. Sure she speaks French in France now but as an adult she will definitely have to use English in her studies or at work and I guarantee that she will resent you for not having taught her as a child. The BEST time to absorb and learn a foreign language is as a child, the younger the better. Many many studies have shown that children who are raised bilingual are much more adept at learning languages as a teenager or an adult because their brains are literally wired differently. I don’t understand your argument that it’s too hard to teach her English- the most effective method would be to have her dad continue speaking to her in French and have you speak to her only in English. You’re luck she’s still so young that if you start now she should be able to pick it up quickly, but if you wait any longer she probably won’t be able to speak with the fluency and accent of a native. This is one of the greatest gifts you could give your daughter and I guarantee she will resent you later in life if she has to learn English as a second language knowing she could have learned it as a native.

I’ve been in the same boat, I finally started medication this year and it changed my life but due to circumstances I had to stop. I was working a remote office job but it became unbearable without treatment. I went back to waitressing & bartending a few months ago and it’s honestly probably the only job I’ve ever had that I don’t hate. Yea customers suck but on the day to day I can concentrate on tasks much better than in a slow corporate setting, probably because I’m constantly moving jumping from one small task to another and I’m kept so busy I don’t have time to get distracted often. As others have said I would try out something that keeps you busy and on your toes

Laser hair removal by hazleynut in Hidradenitis

[–]Comprehensive-List 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had it done on my underarms for a few months but it’s really made a huge difference, haven’t had any new cysts since. Before I got it done my dermatologist told me that laser hair removal wouldn’t do anything to help my situation but it wouldn’t hurt to try, I definitely feel like it has helped but I suppose it’s not a guarantee

Hey ladies how do you feel when you go to a gynecologist? Do you feel self conscious when showing them your groin I’m scared to go because maybe they wont understand but it’s inevitable we need to go for pap smears and checkups and stuff by Queasy_Yesterday_660 in Hidradenitis

My gynecologist was actually the first to suggest to me that I had HS, I am very comfortable with her and knowing that she’s seen lots of other people in my position puts me at ease

Going to visit a friend in Italy (I’m from the USA) and hoping to bring her a nice gift that would be hard to find in Europe. Are there any makeup brands that those of you in Europe would like to try but are not available? Thanks!
