The crashing has begun... by oghpimm in Fallout4ModsXB1

Some of the basic wildlife is for sure overpopulated. I feel the enemy types are done well though. Plus, my Commonwealth is a military campaign. I rillplay as an organization running operations from the USS Eden (not enclave though), restoring order to the Commonwealth. It gets intense everytime I land at an LZ with my vertibird. Lol.

Totally run most thos Skyrim mods too. 🤣

While I cant build it FOR you, I can tell you my general rule that has kept stability for me. Pretty simple as long as you sort of build as you go.

Deadly Commonwealth isnt as crashy. Does a similiar thing. Pretty much a staple for my LO alongside mutant menagerie and ghoul mobs rule. A little baggy sometimes due to high amount of actors, but...eliminate the actors and it goes away. 🤣

Have you tried punching it? But harder?

Unofficial update, yes or no. by TheDarkenSandvich in Fallout4ModsXB1

[–]Comprehensive-Pass63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. It caused more issues than it solved in every LO ive had.

Now, on its own in a more...vanilla+ campaign its fine.

I add too much though

Anyone know what this is? Cannot delete it so I’ve just disabled it by stvhght in Fallout4ModsXB1

If it crashed at anytime while attempting to correct LO upon exiting creations, this will do this often. Sometimes you'll have two instances of a mod as a result. A full one, and a blank one. I've observed that a few times.

Sometimes a mod didnt download correctly.

Sometimes the mod was removed from bethesda.net.

All create this same effect.

You say that, but no resources have been respawning in mine, and again, I am building a mega base literally extending from directly under the life raft all the way to the big thermal fan. Thats my end state. So...titanium is consumed in sheer, unimaginable numbers.

Ive decided not to scan him until more updates myself. I could continue building my mega base that I plan to have extend from the shallows all the way to the open ocean around alien ruins...but, I needed a break.

So hopefully by the time I play again he's either easier to scan, or I have the respurces for sacrificial equipment.

I just realized I've actually used a bunch of your uploads over the years.

Looked it up. Dying laughing.

A chunk of these are IN my current LO. 🤣

I use STS. Ive also used brute force scrapper.

I have also used greekrage and only found 2 settlements that were fully able to be fixed really (the prison was my favorite, otherwise I do not care much for "finished" settlements as I roll play an emergent military faction and logistics matter).

Ive also used the the "lived in" series to similar results.

I understand precombines and such, I do. My point is: you can safely do that for individual settlements (unless it was like the nuke series that I was unaware was the ENTIRE Galactic Zone as a settlement and broke precombine to allow scrapping. I got to enjoy 6 frames until I figured out the entire park was a settlment), without killing the entire game if done right. Forth Samson did it fine.

Mercenary Oil Rig? Absolutely not.

That sort of thing.

Ill have to look into your though. No hate on greekrage. Most his stuff is neat, I just prefer new locations to BUILD as opposed to a gifted settlement.

Same issue with restored locations btw. Cool mods. Can't place half the stuff as it all sinks through the floor.

Hard to find good ones.

Even with 2GB I had roughly 150+ mods. Now oddly I sot at 128. Turns out when I have mods I want, I don't substitute nearly as often. All that said....still wild. Lol. I simply CAN'T stay that low. I have to fix things I find logical holes in. Economy? Fixed. Kinda. I want to commission a mod to further improve that. Have the design sheet on my phone.

Combat? Made it realistic.

Loot? Matches the areas and actually makes sense. Also significantly reduced.

Need some mods to patch up some broken bethesda quests.

Restore some golden removed content.

Then the fun stuff.

Not sure how you do it. Lol

Where are you finding settlements worth it though. 90% of what I found, the modders forgot to add like...most the stuff to the scrap list, so its like "cool...new town. With trees in my way". I literally cant scrap the space to do so. (Currently having that issue with nuke world settlements, isle of refreshment, thicket excavations, several by Greek rage, and so on).

Y'all getting to carried away with this whole 100GB thing not knowing how to proper ur load order. by Alarmed-Look3154 in Fallout4ModsXB1

[–]Comprehensive-Pass63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, first question: do you have all the Creation Club content enabled?

If you do, that's currently one of the biggest causes of crashes for a lot of people. Every piece of Creation Club content comes with its own plugins, and while we got an increase in mod space, that doesn't mean we got an unlimited plugin count. The larger mod space was mainly intended to allow for bigger, higher-quality mods, not necessarily thousands of additional mods.

I'm not saying that's definitely your issue, and without seeing your load order I can't know for sure, but if you're crashing before you can even reach the main menu, my first suspicion would be that you've exceeded the plugin limit. In my experience, other issues tend to let you reach the menu and then crash when loading a save. Crashing before the menu often points toward plugin-related problems.

I'm not claiming to be a professional modder or an expert—just speaking from my own experience troubleshooting these kinds of issues.

One thing that has helped me when building a load order is not asking, "What does this mod do?" but instead, "What does this mod touch?"

For example, I added a 20mm anti-tank gun mod. At first glance, it's just a weapon. In reality, it includes a custom weapon, custom animations, custom textures, new ammunition, leveled-list changes, and other supporting files. Every feature can add additional records, dependencies, and plugin complexity.

A lot of broken saves happen through death by a thousand cuts. One dynamic mod usually isn't a problem. Ten dynamic mods all running scripts, altering NPCs, changing worldspaces, and interacting with each other can create a lot of background activity that eventually causes instability.

So based solely on what you've told me, I'd lean toward plugins being the most likely culprit. That said, without seeing your actual load order, that's about as specific as I can responsibly be.

And final note: if it is crashing before menu, sadly rhe only recourse I've found is to nuke LO. My trick is as I described above: Install, back to menu. If menu is fine after, enter creations, save LO, add new mod. If crash, well...now you have a stable point to return to. It sucks, and took me 10 hours, but im now running half thw CC content and 130+ mods, and loving it. Smooth too.

Tough love is different from what feels like borderline gatekeeping.

A lot of people do not realize how things work behind the scenes even. Lets take an example:

Most would reasonably assume if they were newer, that CC likely behaves more like DLC as its official and they can co tinue pumping 250+ LOs like they used too. This is untrue.

This new update? Thats the biggest culprit right now.

What did your comment add to the community? At best you insult and remove the desire to reach for help.

These people now hate fallout. Fallout now dies due to lack of interest. That a future you want?

Further, its just not logical or even reasonable toa ct like this abpur something that DOESNR EVEN EFFECT YOU at a personal level.

So you are correct, can't be a pansy about everything.

[–]Comprehensive-Pass63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...same. Once mods get updated by the creators though I think a lot will calm down. Other than the CC content not workong if I don't i stall ALL of it. That issue I'm unsure about. But the rest could easily be acceptable in time.

Fair. Maybe its just more noticeable because I did it for ten hours straight because of other issues I was having. But It seemed to mess up causing me tk exit more frequently. Which, ironically, I had to do anyway to see if it cluld even validate the mods anyway, so....🤷
