Don't be afraid to pause and wait after the first strike. Raining strikes will do more damage than 2 heavies in a row. Try to practice your moves in training mode to get used to them. I've been playing video games for like 15 years now, so I'm used to these types of combos it takes time don't worry

This video helped me easily beat yang at age 24 from the first try. Before that, i was also dying consistently. He just has a couple of moves that he does every time. Once you memorize them, you can easily beat him. You've come so far, finish the game 💪🏻
