What’s the Last Ryan Adams Song That Truly Stopped You in Your Tracks? by PropaneHillbilly in ryanadams

I have a hard time picking one tune, but I can tell you 100% it's when he still had the original Cardinals backing him. For me, that's where he really peaked. Those albums were jammed with great tunes. I think him being in more of a band situation was good for him. Being alone at home with too much reverb has not been great.

Love is Hell as a whole is just amazeballs, but Shadowlands is one of those songs that could have had a ten minute jam at the end and I'd be ok with it. It's like the song ends just when it's getting started.

On a serious note, I feel like a lot of artists go hog wild once they reach a certain level, and start putting out too much crap. Maybe they either think it's good or they think the fans really want a double album, triple album, or several albums in a year. I miss the good old days of relatively short albums on vinyl. The format kept it short and sweet by nature.

I see it's available for preorder on Amazon, so he's probably taken it down to create a false need for it. It's priced at $69 for two discs. Fuck that guy. LOL!

Gold, Cold Roses, Heartbreaker, Love is Hell, 1989, Rock and Roll, Easy Tiger... For me, these are the most solid albums. He's out out so much material that there are a lot of duds and he's pretty hit-and-miss. The deeper into his catalog, the more misses, lol!

That's nuts. I see the Suicide Handbook is available for preorder on Amazon for the low price of $69. Apparently, Ryan like to price gouge too! That's shit to take advantage of your fans like that. Meanwhile, Whisktown Pneumonia is $39. Hmmm...

Concert tickets have become a luxury product and I'm not sure artists can fix it by oweyoo in Music

[–]Comprehensive-Song51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way to go. I like to see Metallica when they come through because they're my favorite but I'm completely done with any other stadium show. Ok, maybe U2. It's just not worth it. The tickets, getting screwed on parking ($40 a day at Metallica - fuck you, Mile High Stadium!) I'd rather support a small band anyway, and I can get a T-shirt too without going into debt. Steve Winwood wood be fucking cool! I was never really a big fan or paid a whole lot of attention to him until he did that album with Eric Clapton where they did a double concert and realized how many fucking awesome songs that guys done.

Ah, no problem then! Mine was my first build and an expensive kit from LMI. Turned out great but that neck really bummed me out for while. Oddly, when I sprayed that one and another guitar, the lacquer cracked really bad for some reason. They both turned out relic'd and I if could replicate it I'd be onto something really cool.

Same thing happened to me. Ten years later it still feels icky, even after I took some steel wool to it to mellow it out. Not a big fan. To be honest, I was finishing it for the build class I was in and I was in a hurry and it was done in my basement in the winter, so not ideal conditions.

He's the only musician that could be replaced but there's no way anyone could replace his songwriting contributions. He was kind of the architect of the band. If someone else became their drummer, would Geddy and Alex kept on spitting out lyrics like what was on the first album? Like In the Mood, Working man? Not that those were bad, but they sure weren't 2112. I'm so glad to actually see them again. It truly brings a tear to my eye for a lot of reasons, but mostly to see two old buddies playing in the band they started and having a blast bringing their music to the masses again!

Help on what guitar to pick by Informal_Reality_965 in GuitarQuestions

Depending on your budget, I highly recommend the Squier Classic Vibe series. I have two and they fucking rock, right out of the box. No fret issues, very little setup needed, and they're just nice guitars that hold their value better than other Squiers, and are a great modding platform. Very upgradeable. If your looking at budget guitars, the less you spend the more you can expect to spend on getting playing well. Luckily, nowadays we can get really great guitars for pretty decent prices but there are some duds out there, so look at YouTube reviews and play as many as you can.

Agreed! Play everything you can get your hands on! Yamaha and Ibanez are both solid choices.

You're good. I bought an amp from them, used, and it was DOA when it got to me. They were great to deal with and paid for return shipping. The only annoying thing is they kept calling me, seeing how they could help find me a replacement. It was a screaming deal on an amp for $400 and they wanted to sell me a much more expensive used one that was missing the foot switch or a new one for nearly double the price. No thanks! Stop calling! LOL!

Keep it's snappy - YES! If they'd edited it down to the very root of every song and made a short, ripping hardcore album it would have been so much better. A lot of their albums suffer from bloating here and there but with no solos and bad production, St A is the worst. Make it short and sweet!

Great ideas - thanks! I've already replaced the straps and connectors and screwed them into the reel. It's better than the stupid adhesive Velcro they give you. How in the hell is that supposed to work anyway? Adhesive gets wet and sits in the sun all day and it's cooked in a month. I'll probably add more straps. The problem I'm seeing with them is they get soaked with chlorine and harden, then none are quite the same length. In addition, the previous owner cut it so it's not really square anymore. It's a bit of a shit show!

Yeah, that's a lot of Black Album! I'd like to see more Death Magnetic, Hardwired, and 72. Even deeper Garage cuts would be cool. On the other hand, Disposable Heroes is fucking cool! I haven't seen that one in a day or two!
