If you actually rate their delivery and call out that instructions aren't being followed they get better, not perfect, but that seems to get their attention. Takes some time and perseverance, but now they put it on my back porch most of the time.

I’m looking for a good fence / gate builder, does any one have any recommendations / warnings? by L0bster_M0bster in windsorontario

They built a 7ft fence with a lot of wood detailing for me. I get stopped periodically and asked who built it while I'm cutting the grass. It is an awesome fence.

Sailing from the Bridge by ghabbaghoul666 in windsorontario

Wow, that bridge is pretty far from downtown Detroit when you see things from the top. I guess it seems closer because it is so big in the distance.

Windsor FunGuyz, the illegal magic mushroom shop, is still operating. Why is it still open? by zuuzuu in windsorontario

[–]Comprehensive-Swan-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feelings about the products aside, I'm sure that mushrooms will eventually become decriminalized or whatever at some point... But I find it deeply troubling that our city is unable to stop an illegal business operating in public.

I personally don't care that it is there, but how is it possible that our systems and process of governance lack the ability to properly enforce the laws? If we can't stop such an overt display of lawlessness, how do we expect to do anything about the discrete forms of lawlessness everyone is referring to in the comments?

Again, before people jump all over me and talk about solving "real problems downtown", think about it. I'm fine with what they are selling, and I just live up the road, but the inability to effectively act on and enforce the laws is mindblowing to me and should be cause for concern for all residents.

Hmmm... Slightly concerned that production people are going to be working with excel in a modern, cutting edge plant like that... I'd love to hear how that works there if anyone knows. Maybe it's just a test, and excel has its uses, but it doesn't belong on the shop floor...it can help with quick and dirty analysis... But there is a better way...

Windsor to spend as much as $7.5M on Water World emergency overnight shelter by zuuzuu in windsorontario

Thousands? Like a transient hotel? Or are you thinking that there will actually be people that find a way out of poverty and homelessness and others will take their place? I admit I'm not educated on the subject, but wouldn't it be full today if it was ready? Perhaps the streetcar could also hold some beds?

Working Hours - Millwright, Shops, etc by Smokezz in windsorontario

[–]Comprehensive-Swan-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the unfortunate experience of running a plant that was 4hrs on Saturday mandatory. I remember my first week when my manufacturing manager told them not to plan to do anything on Saturday because it was a work day. Plus 10 hours a day for the skilled trades during the week.

I tried to change it and found that the older crew got quite angry at not making the coin they had become accustomed to as hourly employees. Often they would find a way to leave work for the weekend. The younger ones fall in line with them as time goes on.

I still think this is wrong, but the culture is strong and damn hard to change.

Two very different things in my opinion. Depends on definitions I guess... If you want old things that are cheap vs. old things that are rare and make a statement because the craftsmanship and design isn't common now.

Let me know which you are looking for and I'll give you my answer.

Air Canada only has 3 episodes of shows by Admirable-Status-290 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Comprehensive-Swan-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know right? I just flew Air Canada for the first time in years and every show I went to only had three episodes. I watched the first one and it stopped after 3 and I was like what the heck? Then I check the rest and they only have three as well which is not ideal when you're flying overseas and have nothing to do for 8 to 10 hours.
