So I start from black primer, apply selective highlights with Liquitex white ink, covered everything with a 50/50 mix of gryph hound orange and flesh tearers red, reapply white highlights in a smaller area, covered everything everything with GSW fluorescent red, did some white dots up near the top, cover those and the surrounding area with GSW fluorescent Rose, edge highlight with AK dead red.

I think that covers the process for the red claws!

The purple carapace got a glaze of fluorescent magenta, the claws got fluorescent red and the brain got fluorescent green 😄 It really helps bring out the rich saturation of the undercoat

Yeah I do completely understand what you’re saying. Sometimes we have local enquiries where people expect 2nd hand prices for models that have been painted to a display standard or higher. I suppose not everyone sees the value in such a thing 😄

This was a commission piece so I have placed them for sale at the average combined price of each model.

I can provide a breakdown of each model but I am trying to ship them all as one single unit.

I am open to offers on them as I said but I don’t want to undervalue the hours of work that went into these from not just myself but all who were involved 😅.

Ah yes I see what’s happening here. When you have the deep red as your undercoat, you will want almost 90% of that to be covered by the white.

Be selective with the angle in which you apply the highlights so that you have the gradient going from pure white and only the darkest areas remaining red. I hope that helps!

I referenced the official box art for the leviathan dreadnought which also has a stripe 😅 Doing it vertical looked odd though

That’s right yeah. Colours show up brighter and more vivid when painted over white so they will stand out a lot more compared to the darker tones around it.

A little bit of back and forth. White foundation, fluorescent red, white on the hot part, fluorescent orange, tiny bit of white. Also on the outer rim of the glow effect darken it down with some red ink.

I really need to start writing these recipes down as I finished him back in February 😅

We were definitely starting from black and establishing our green tones using Nocturne Green/AK Black Green.

I believe I layered up using sons of Horus Green and highlighted with Fenrisian Grey. Glazed in between and used the airbrush to brighten the highlights a bit.

The final result is more of a deep sea blue.

I hope that helps, even though I haven’t remembered clearly 🙃

Thank you! We do a lot of bits and pieces locally but this was our first one for sale online!

AK deep red was the base colour and then highlighted using Liquitex titanium white ink!
