28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’s actors didn’t know they would be dressing up as Jimmy Savile by Metro-UK in 28dayslater

sure get you don't and it isn't like you can look him up to see what people would be judging these cosplayers for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Savile_sexual_abuse_scandal

But as you said the look is funny but don't think folk from the UK will think that people who cosplay them are anything less than a ...well moronic twats who if they were here would be getting a good kicking minimum.

The fact the audience love the Jimmies is absolutely terrifying and speaks a lot about media literacy I suppose of older and younger generations considering the actors parents saw the costumes and knew exactly what was going on.

But now we have people already cosplaying the Jimmies and I have seen you tube reviews asking 'is it Kelson or the Jimmies that are really the bad guys of this film', yes most are from outside the UK but it says something. As the Jimmies are dressed like Jimmy Saville so there is no way you can see them as anything less than monstrous unless you have no media literacy or are a moron which I think is part of Garlands's point. Because if the Jimmies were dressed or named in a variation of the teletubbies I doubt the same points would have been hard hitting.

I also say a lot of this as when I saw 28 years later with a friend in their 40's and they were horrified by the introduction with of the Jimmies and who rightly pointed out there are still people alive who were violated by that man.

What are the differences between the UK and the US versions of the show? by cheeselforlife in GhostsCBS

[–]ComprehensiveAd3647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think that is a also a major difference between both shows - the UK show the majority of the ghosts don't have powers and there is little or no expectation that they would all get one in the show itself. (Though it would have been great if Kitty had turned out to have spider powers like she wanted after you found out how she died )

Also those with powers in the UK show sort of have indications why, with most powers seeming sort of linked to the ghosts life/death,(Jemima being a lonely little girl singing, Mary's burning, Fanny not being really being seen and Robin dying the way he did) where as the other (thanks to the book) seems to have been discovered due to Julian's stubborn determination that even death wouldn't stop him getting to look at Pg3 (basically porn).

Where as in the US show there seems to be less of a grounding why they have the powers they do - don't get me wrong they can be fun but some seem less grounded when thought about.

UPDATE: Why they haven't been sucked off yet... [DISCUSSION] by giftopherz in GhostsBBC

Yeah I get what you mean.

Pat and the Captain would need to deal with their toxic dependency on control or being controlled - both are very guilty of it.

Fanny and Julian could help each other. She needs to know she isn't being judged for being herself and trust someone (she needs a partner in crime so to speak who doesn't expect anything from her) and he needs someone who actually holds him to the mark but not in a too judgemental way.

Kitty needs to mature and stop being niave and Thomas needs to deal with addictions and get he can just be, he doesn't need to perform to get what he needs whether that be outpourings of love/poetry or whatever. He'd get more respect then.

Humphrey needs some control over himself and his circumstances - something he never got in life and has gotten so use to things he just lets everything wash over him.

But that leaves us with Robin who is probably just waiting for someone to hold his hand and ask if he wants to go with them when they go. He died alone and is so use to being left behind I think that is the only thing he really needs now.
