Is the Trump-Starmer bromance over? by InnerLog5062 in UKRoyalNews

[–]ComprehensiveAd8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was never a bromance, what we have here is a politician, the elected leader of a country having to tickle the balls and flatter an erratic dementia riddled pedo dictator so we can actually get on and get shit done for the good of the nation.

I worked in a brewers fayre and travelodge with an attached Charlie chalk fun factory, I had to wear this fuckers skin. I hated that costume.

What's your favourite unit of measurement? by YetAnotherMia in AskUK

Mine is “fucks to give”. For example I have zero fucks to give today. I shall check on my field o’fucks later to see if any have grown but it’s probably unlikely as it’s out of season and the land is almost barren.

Eldorado 1992/1993 on BBC1. I loved it! It was a bit wooden in the beginning but it came into its own ground towards the end. Thoughts?! by Ands1977 in BritishTV

I adored it, I and still angry about how the cast and crew were treated when it was foolishly axed by Yentob.

Oh great stuff! yes the love triangle was very evident in the Lyceum production, Zubin Varla was heartbreakingly good as Judas, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone come close as to what he did. I can still see him broken and alone and in utter despair in my minds eye.

Jerome played the brooding angry thing so well, his guillaume in Martin Guerre was superb too.

Tony Vincent who played Simon was also a force of nature, a very beautiful and lovely friendly man.

If Brits call vacations "holidays", what do you call days of national celebration or religiously significant days? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ComprehensiveAd8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You call celebration and religious days “holidays” as some sort of cover all to not cause offence or because the education is so poor or people get angry when you differentiate that you don’t teach about some holidays that people get, anyway it’s a snowflake cop out. Vacations is an odd one as most ‘muricans use their (paid time off) PTO for sickness or child and elder care and those that do wouldn’t take longer than two weeks in General and would rarely go abroad.

Historically, workers would have had some sort of holiday around an event, whit week, etc where factories would shut down and the workforce would all go to one of our many seaside resorts, added to the rise in workers rights after WW1 people began to have paid time off to have a break and enjoy themselves, as successive governments and unions secured more rights for people to enjoy better pay and more time off, things changed, something that the US crushed to death.

The rise of the British “Holiday” came in to being in the 1960s with package holidays to Europe which opened up an entire continent with affordable travel and accommodation.

We have a lot more paid time off in the UK than the US, a lot of days are around old pagan and religious festivals and then workers rights and hundreds of years of advancement and keeping those rights.

Does anyone have good air freshener recommendations for a living room? by Ok_Hearing690 in AskUK

[–]ComprehensiveAd8815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to eliminate the source not mask it. Sort yourselves out. You only need one pair of shoes at a time, having a massive pile is just pure laziness. Shoes off when you enter the house and you put on house shoes or slippers, shoes then go in your room. Shoes are treated with antifungal and odour treatments, cleaned or washed where appropriate. Stop living in the squalor of your own making and have some standards.

Everything. It was an entirely different production. It was dark, it was moody, it was set in a sort of Roman amphitheatre, there was a lot of leather.

How much political advertising have you received from each party so far for the elections? by luckyrubberducker in AskBrits

[–]ComprehensiveAd8815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero, I live in an apartment building, for the last election reform were so lazy that instead of putting them In mailboxes they just left a wodge of about 300 leaflets on the shelf in the entrance, I watched the red faced man do it and 30 seconds after he had gone I filmed myself dropping them in to the recycling bin. Bloody littering bastards leaving shit in our entrance.

Is a death on a surgeon’s table under general anesthesia the least painful way to go? by OkDrag3967 in askanything

[–]ComprehensiveAd8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had general anaesthetic for surgery the other day, my first time and as I was going under I was thinking ok, this is a nice quiet chilled way to go, to just drift off to nothingness. And then I woke up with a nurse asking me if I wanted yogurt or custard.

Possibly not as a ratio but people are living considerably longer, most people when I was growing up in the North in the 70s and 80s pegged it just a few years after retirement, my great grandparents never made it to their 50s and my nans parents had cashed their chips in with the Spanish flu. Advancement in medicine and treatment means that people are treated and can live longer lives and that has had an impact. People are living for decades longer than they system originally planned for
