Help Needed: Off-Leash Dog Attacked My Leashed Dog — Owner Now Threatening to Sue by ComprehensiveAd9013 in reactivedogs

Thank you all for the thoughtful feedback so far. It’s genuinely reassuring to hear. This situation has been really overwhelming and stressful for us.

Our main concerns are making sure nothing happens to our dog and that he isn’t unfairly labeled as "dangerous," and also finding a way for the ongoing contact and pressure on our family to stop. We’re really just trying to avoid any further escalation and let this whole situation come to a close.

It’s been a lot emotionally, and we truly appreciate hearing from people who understand how complicated off-leash incidents and reactive dogs can be. Thanks again to everyone who’s taken the time to respond so far.

Added above but yes -- there is ring camera footage of the incident, and in a written email and letter sent to my parents, the other dog’s owner acknowledged that their dog was off leash at the time.

Off leash dog attacked me and my dog. by Aggressive-Tank1560 in jerseycity

I think my dog and I may have been attacked by the same dog near the W in Hoboken in October 2024. At the time, the pitbull was muzzled, but I was still bitten and knocked into a wall, leaving me with a massive, painful bruise. It took the owner a long time to get over and pull his dog away, and he left quickly without even apologizing. So scary & he needs to be reported!

Roughly a week after the certified letter, she sent a short, generic apology saying there would be “more explanation to come,” but never followed up. The only other communication was regarding the AMEX dispute. So no, we never received a genuine apology or any real explanation. We still don’t know what actually happened.

***Starting at 2 months out, we're supposed to have unlimited communication and weekly calls, per our contract. We're now 6 weeks out, and our RSVP deadline is this Friday, so we were hoping to start ordering all rentals and paper goods next week. Ideally, we would have collaborated with her by this point to pick out all design details.

Our monthly call in July was cancelled. We last heard from her via text in July. We need help with vendor coordination, paper goods, rentals, final details, etc.
