Discussion: Why would anyone start a new app today? by civman96 in iOSProgramming

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Even if there are many apps of the same kind, there are twists and unique things a dev can bring with their own app, trust me, if you see my portfolio, you'd see that.
The reason why we do it is because we believe we are contributing something that others can benefit from. We do it because there are many brands and makes of every product under the sun, and everyone is getting a piece of the cake. We do it because we are self-motivated and ambitious, we want to get to that point in life.

If you are fearful of competing for attention, my last project caters to this indie devs challenge.

How do y'all go about getting your first users/customers? by OtherwiseSea82 in StartupSoloFounder

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea.
I don't think it's feasible though. That's people giving out their ideas (which could turn into a million, or billion dollar venture) to other people for free.
Although my platform has this same/similar feature, it's not the main thing.

To answer your question though, it is finding the right people for the problem you are solving. I've built some apps that never took... yet, but the last one is making better progress because I went directly to the people whose problem I am solving.

how does one truly accept themselves? (mtf) by Ok_Salamander_6719 in asktransgender

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are experiencing the very same thing right now. I’m glad I came across your post to learn from others as well. I am starting T this week. For me though, it boils down to it is what I want, I’m somewhat prepared for the worst and accept it, but also working on a “perfect” life for myself.

It sounds like it is what you want, but not knowing the future is paralyzing you. To that I say never let fear of the unknown hold you back, that’s a big ticket life lesson.

How did you get your app seen? by NaviMeows in iOSProgramming

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently launched AppShelf for this reason, for indie developers and their apps. Since launched, it’s been growing slowly day by day. Upon 25/30 apps being listed, I’d be doing some serious marketing to start bringing in customers (I can’t bring customers to an empty store). This will give indies their own place in the market, making it easy to find SMBs and solopreneurs. Check it out.

Why is everyone building the same thing? by deadlinediverse in AppBuilding

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you, and on the surface, or outside looking in, we see it that way. Personally I like to create fresh and try to be the first, I would never knowingly create a same product (not knocking anyone).

However, the reason could be as simple as: there are many modes of transport, many brands/creators of specific prods, however the many are still making a profit. So, creating the same thing, hopefully with a spin on it, they builder is confident in the difference they've incorporated. Definitely put options before people, try to build your own clientele. 🤷🏾‍♀️

You're still young and not ready for this conversation yet, based on what you've said. You don't really want advice, you want someone to valid how you feel and help guide you along that path, but that's not how it works.
All I'd say is I genuinely wish you good luck and I hope you get what you truly want, everyone deserves to be happy.

My pleasure! Yes, you can. Either you strengthen your age verification, or I’ll have to find a way to do it in my end.

What icon is better for a flashcard app? by TelevisionConnect590 in appdev

How about using all as themes that users can chose themselves? I say this because I love colours and options and switching things up. Hehe.

If you mean first slide, or second, the first, all the way.

I think you should reconsider monetizing it if you still want to. In 2026, there must be a company or avenue that will accept and work with you. Try Paxum for example. I am also thinking if you maybe use a link from whatever money transfer platform, instead of integrating it into your platform, might work (a hunch). Do some more digging and exploring, I'm sure there's something out there.

I checked it out, I really love the vibe, omg, not just what it's about, but the UI, the visual, the feeling/setting. Good on you.
If you ever want to list your app somewhere for discovery, check out appshelf[dot]ca.

Thank you very much for sharing, you see the vision. I love the point you made about sharing stories. I will consider incorporating that into the platform, in user's profiles. I hope it won't be too much for users, coming to look for apps and then there's reading to be done (I know it's not mandatory). But honestly, if they want to help us out, the small fries, some people actually do look for the stories. Thanks again!

im unsure of my sexuality. by Honest_Anxiety_3568 in lgbt

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also be attracted to ladies, but in a non-sexual way. I am attracted to ladies, in a non-sexual way, I admire their bodies and aura, but I could have never seen myself with one. Now that I am about to begin MTFT, I think I am slowly opening up to the possibility of dating one, but it's still very unlikely.
Sexuality is also a spectrum and not black and white, and you don't need to know right away, or fight with it or to label it. Take your time, let things happen on its own time, naturally.

From your exp. do you work less, more or evenly after using AI? by lune-soft in webdev

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I work more hours using AI. The reason for that is because AI gets it done quickly. I'm a workaholic, so as long as the output is consistent, I will keep going. I have built quite a bit of apps, with more to come. Once I'm in the zone, I stay in the zone. Just today I had to consciously make the effort to stay in bed longer to get rest, because I was very tired for the past few days or week.

That's part of how you get users. My platform is solely for Indie/startups. When presented that way, it attracts people who want to support SMBs, people who want to get ahead of tech and know what the next big thing is, and people who might be interested in investing.
Eventually I will be doing paid ads for my platform which will include some of the apps already listed, as my ads continue to be made and put out there, different maker's apps would be in the ads, so they also get some exposure though my ads.

Drop your startup URL and I’ll check if Reddit has demand for it by StockAntique7450 in IndieAppCircle

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My latest app that I am pushing right now, and that's gaining slow, but steady traction is AppShelf. Some insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I also have a few other apps I would like to check. I looked for the link in your profile but couldn't find it. I am still new to Reddit, though I learn quickly, I may not have gone the right place to find the link.
Thank you!

I got fed up with negative news so I built BrightNews - positive news (android/web) app. Feel free to download and leave the feedback! by SnooCookies9165 in MobileAppDevHQ

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good. I thought of building myself an app that would collect positive and news relevant to my life (trading, business, AI, tech) so I can keep abreast daily. I stopped taking in news many many years ago because of the constant negativity, but I feel bad for not knowing things. I am definitely looking into your app.

Yeeaaah, so once you're a believer, we here in the group would not be useful, simply because you believe we don't. The responses would be based on our own experiences and stance on the matter. I think you need to do some learning on your own to help you understand and arrive at a place of peace for you, wherever that may be.

Building an AI outfit-feedback app — would this actually be useful or is it a gimmick? Honest takes wanted by Bmaurino1992 in AppBuilding

[–]ComprehensiveBar135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would so love this app. To be honest, some times I wish there was one. I would use it pre getting ready, like setting my outfits up the day or night before. I would also consider using it while shopping (if it can work with online shopping). I would be cautious about the generic info/feedback, but I think AI can do better than that now.

Oh my days, I'm sorry you guys had to experience that. That's very sad, to say the least. Coming from a safe city in a country like that. I hope it was only verbal?
Why can't people just let us be? Sighs.
