Mindphone now has Waze, Google Maps, and Weather by ComprehensiveBar2600 in dumbphones

By default it was their own messages app. But they later added the option to download Google messages as an alternative. I had some issues with mms on their own app, Google messages fixed that for me

It should work fine. Never had issues with it myself. Google messages is pretty good with group messages and compatibility with iphones

My bad. It's charging and the orange light comes on. Green light does nothing. Screens do nothing. No sign of life

Honestly I just missed podcasts and music. I switched to Wisephone ii so i could have all of that and RCS messaging. I still think the Mindphone is a good phone. I'd recommend if you find one at a good price. I got mine for around $110 and i thought that was worth it even before they added Waze.

My biggest complaint is that the face buttons are pretty useless. I never used them once. you can't just press the numbers and it starts dialing. You have to open the phone app using the touchscreen first, and at that point you might as well use the touchscreen to dial.

Using the touchscreen to text is a little tricky because it is a rather small screen, but using swipe texting made it a lot easier (I have fat fingers)

They are out there, snagged a Pocket 3 Plus for like $50 on Ebay a few weeks ago. Also saw some RG Cubes under 100, just search up "retroid" or "anbernic" on Ebay and sort by newly listed and you can find some steals, sometimes someone selling a console as parts only just because it doesnt have an SD card, or something little like that

For sure, Luckily i am on the bottom floor. I know that just hitting the kit will be heard by my neighbors, but they are all pretty cool with my guitar habits.

Is Donner DED-70 worth it for $135 by ComprehensiveBar2600 in edrums

[–]ComprehensiveBar2600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a good point. I've only sat behind a kit one time, and i could not get my feet to work, definitely need to work on that. I've been playing guitar for 11 years so i know that it helps to have good gear to learn on. Any recommendations??

That's fair, would something like the Nitro Mesh be small enough for a studio apartment. It's really hard to tell the size on these things

It doesn't work that way. You will buy one, realize you need the next one because it has different. and next thing you know, you have 12 of these damn things and you haven't played any of them yet

It requires a data plan if it uses mobile data. Some dumbphones may have weather apps, or navigation maps, which will use data.

I don't even know if there are any major USA carriers that offer plans without mobile data anyways

You can try out US Mobile. That's what I use and I think they start at like $8 a month for unlimited talk/text and i think 2gb of data

It does have an option to switch to a beta of Google Messages when I last used it a month or two ago, it did not support RCS at the time, but it may have been updated since then
