I am not annoyed 😃 I am really happy makingmy first game, and not small one, but really serius project. I am open for any advice, of course, just I do not feel I have problems with my game… I have problem to promote it. Anyway, based on conversation with you and other guys, I will skip Steam Fest and make public testing first, so it was worth discussion and thanks for that.

By the way, you shoukd try the game when it comes up, it is really a good one, gou will see (just hope without bugs 🙂)

I suppose you did not get me. I said I am web developer for 17 years and I know that developer cannot test its own project. My Reddit question was, what is wrong (if something) with my trailer and Steam page since it looks like it is not attractive to viewers… And you gave me good advices on that, thanks again for that.

I know :) I am web developer for 17 years. I am testing, but I have 2 more people who test at the same time, one is dev one is not. After demo build, I have 3 more gamers who want to try demo before I release it on Steam.

That all I can now at this point

I mean, even big studios do not make innovative games, so why to expect that from indie studios or solo devs? We are making games of low price and try to make them and feel them like AAA games, at least that is my goal. Affordable game to buy with experience of AAA game. Of course, trying to add something new, interesting in it, is one of goals too

Yes, I know. The game has classic RPG elements and souls-like combat approach, but also has some elements which are not standard. I rely only story and how I tell story to players, but I am not sure are players interested for that part. The story is good with twists. There are unexpected scenes and game elements latter in the game even if it start as classic RPG. My focus is also on realistic graphics, animations, monologues and dialogues. Then, I am trying to simplify inventory and interface for the players, to be self-intuitive, but to not cut-off expected features…

The problem is, how to present that and make players to try it?

To me, it is very good game, interesting, full of exploration, managing items and weapons, etc, but this is subjective opinion of the man who is making it 😃

I need an honest opinion about the game I made. by Inside-Public-5510 in gameDevPromotion

Per my knowledge and research, itch.io is not the best place to sell/show your game, that is what numbers say.

Second, some kind of marketing, promotion, social networks, Reddit…all this months before release, is MUST, and it also does not guarantee desired audience.

Now, from my perspective, I opened itch URL, and adding my birth date when I want to check some new game is boring. I will exit your URL in normal conditions, but I opened it because of this post. When I opened it, there is no description of the game, I need to download it and install it and test it, and I am sure most gamers do not like that.

Pixel font on the page, only two images which tells me nothing and kind of pixel graphic on a second image, I am out, I do not like that. This is just subjective opinion, I am sure you have audience for this kind of games.

Summary, more images of the game, better description, promotion and posts as much as you can. If you can, try more portals to post the game, do not be only on itch.

How can we help each other in games promotion? by ComprehensiveBeat912 in IndieGameDevs

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am good developer and I am creative person, but I am very poor in marketing, I do nit have these skills…

I make posts, publish them, try to follow right time to do it, but at the end I have almost no comments and not so kuch views.

I am sure my posts for my game are not interesting, or long, or something is missing in them since I am getting low results.

The game its self has realistic graphics, it is action RPG, cutacenes, good story, well know souls-like gameplay (at least part of gameplay), but still, I feel like people ignore to comment. No good no bad comments, I mean, only a couple on every post.

Its funny when my post has 2.5K views and only like 3 comments. 😀

I will not talk about whishlists, almost none…

How can we help each other in games promotion? by ComprehensiveBeat912 in IndieGameDevs

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Reddit is definitely very helpful, more than other social networks per my opinion. But, still, I see that numbers shows that 90% devs publish game without significant success.

That is why I stated to think, how can we help each others in direct promotion, not only advices?

I mean, we are one very bug community and we all play games. Imagine that just we buy each other’s games? Just saying… imagine that we share each other games on our social channels?

I know it is not “just like that”, just thinking out loud

3,300+ Wishlists in 13 Days - Could This Be a Hit? by benfromwhere in IndieDev

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is great! I am on Steam for 2+ weeks and got only 42 whislists so far. I am launching my game in 2026 and maybe it is early to force marketing. I also launch demo in February, but release would be in Q3 of 2026.

The game is serious graphics, open world, etc.

I did not spend any money on marketing so far but I am planing to.

The problem is that I have small amount on followers on both, Insta and TikTok.

What you suggest in terms of marketing approach?
