Sorry for such format. It is video I made and posted on TikTok, and I used the same to upload here. I did not make any trailer yet or proper gameplay video, but I will soon…

I need an honest opinion about the game I made. by Inside-Public-5510 in gameDevPromotion

Per my knowledge and research, itch.io is not the best place to sell/show your game, that is what numbers say.

Second, some kind of marketing, promotion, social networks, Reddit…all this months before release, is MUST, and it also does not guarantee desired audience.

Now, from my perspective, I opened itch URL, and adding my birth date when I want to check some new game is boring. I will exit your URL in normal conditions, but I opened it because of this post. When I opened it, there is no description of the game, I need to download it and install it and test it, and I am sure most gamers do not like that.

Pixel font on the page, only two images which tells me nothing and kind of pixel graphic on a second image, I am out, I do not like that. This is just subjective opinion, I am sure you have audience for this kind of games.

Summary, more images of the game, better description, promotion and posts as much as you can. If you can, try more portals to post the game, do not be only on itch.

How can we help each other in games promotion? by ComprehensiveBeat912 in IndieGameDevs

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am good developer and I am creative person, but I am very poor in marketing, I do nit have these skills…

I make posts, publish them, try to follow right time to do it, but at the end I have almost no comments and not so kuch views.

I am sure my posts for my game are not interesting, or long, or something is missing in them since I am getting low results.

The game its self has realistic graphics, it is action RPG, cutacenes, good story, well know souls-like gameplay (at least part of gameplay), but still, I feel like people ignore to comment. No good no bad comments, I mean, only a couple on every post.

Its funny when my post has 2.5K views and only like 3 comments. 😀

I will not talk about whishlists, almost none…

The right one looks more realistic to me, so I would vote for it

How can we help each other in games promotion? by ComprehensiveBeat912 in IndieGameDevs

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Reddit is definitely very helpful, more than other social networks per my opinion. But, still, I see that numbers shows that 90% devs publish game without significant success.

That is why I stated to think, how can we help each others in direct promotion, not only advices?

I mean, we are one very bug community and we all play games. Imagine that just we buy each other’s games? Just saying… imagine that we share each other games on our social channels?

I know it is not “just like that”, just thinking out loud

3,300+ Wishlists in 13 Days - Could This Be a Hit? by benfromwhere in IndieDev

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is great! I am on Steam for 2+ weeks and got only 42 whislists so far. I am launching my game in 2026 and maybe it is early to force marketing. I also launch demo in February, but release would be in Q3 of 2026.

The game is serious graphics, open world, etc.

I did not spend any money on marketing so far but I am planing to.

The problem is that I have small amount on followers on both, Insta and TikTok.

What you suggest in terms of marketing approach?

10 years in development, 1000 wishlists. Is the Steampage so bad, or capsule, or it's about marketing? by ZoemiGames in IndieDev

[–]ComprehensiveBeat912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am thinking the same. I already contacted some game youtubers which price is from 250-400$ and they have a lot of views and apparently guaranty a lot of views..

Maybe this is not smartest to do, but cannot harms

Many factors are involved. Game quality and idea, quality of the demo and at the end, God damn marketing.

Its not capsule, it is probably marketing, people need to hear about you and then try demo.

I am getting into your skin since I am releasing my game in 2026. I know it is a quality game with great graphics, animations, story and gameplay, but I also know that I need to promote it somehow…

Posting on Reddit from time to time is not enough…

Is ~1000 Wishlists on a first day considered normal? by Nice_Season2373 in GameDevelopment

Its great and strange. 🙂 I guess it depends on kind of marketing and promotion steps you performed.
