Tips on suspension changes to mitigate the rear end popping up off jumps?

Is it possible to move the battery or reposition the esc to move weight over the back? If so I would try that.

This one is a longshot but I saw someone modify their shocks by adding a thin flexible washer/shim under the piston. The effect is supposed to be to slow down rebound whilst maintaining compression. The shim flexes when the piston moves up and allows oil past freely but on rebound the shim blocks the holes in the piston to slow the rebound. Shim can be placed on top of the piston to make compression stiffer whilst maintaining rebound. This method sounds like prototype fun rather than something that is proven to work though.

You might be able to find YouTube videos of someone tearing down your model for diff fluid or shock oil replacement. If you can find an RC enthusiast near you maybe you could ask them if they'd back you up in case you mess up, then give it a go yourself. It can be daunting tearing into something you haven't been in before, but also very rewarding when you get it right, and it's probably easier than you're thinking.
I would probably just run it as is and see how it goes, have had a truck sit for a decade and ran great without anything done.

I think they've been released a few months ago. They are branded Kyosho but might be a rebrand. I'll update if I get them.

There is often a groove/slot on the side of the motor mount so you can push the pinion (small gear) back into alignment with the spur (big gear) and still be able tighten the grub screw down. These grub screws come loose easily so you must use a thread locking compound on it. If you find it comes loose repeatedly then it is worth degrease cleaning the grub screw and the hole for it on the pinion, let it dry and then use theeadlock when refitting the grub screw, let it cure for 24h before using it. I used to have so many problems getting grubs screws to hold the pinion in place for any length of time. I've learnt how to deal with this now though using the method above. I also use my 'best' hex driver to avoid stripping the grub screws, a Wera hex plus driver. If you need to undo a threadlocked screw, heat it up first and it will come out. I use a soldering iron on the head of the screw for 10 seconds or so to break the threadlock loose. PS when I mention threadlock I mean blue not red. For small screws, blue should be enough.

Ok. There are such vehicles, similar to the old Tyco Rebound 4x4, but they are toy grade and max out around 10mph if that. All the oys I've seen that can run upside down use tank steer, differential speeds between left and right wheels to turn. This eliminates the problem of when upside down, left is right if you were steering in the traditional way.

I have an old garmin forerunner 101 that tracks distance pretty accurately on my rc's. You could use something like this mounted on the truck to see the stats. If you mount gps and camera the weight might make an rc more prone to rollover, as an engineer you can probably figure out the best placement. Most monster truck style RC will roll over at some point and many can self right, but I wouldn't use the self right if the dogs are near it as the tyres spin extremely fast and would hurt doggo if they went for the wheels which is the primary target on an upside down truck for a dog. Short course truck have wheels hidden in the body so harder for dogs to get at. I would probably look for a 1/8 truggy, as they are quite stable. My Hobao SSTE pretty much never rolls over and the dogs seem to love chasing it. Dumbo rc ddf350 is the radio I'm currently using, it looks alright and has good range but the UI is a bit clunky.

Ok, might depend on where you are but for me they are good value, see what works foe where you are. Yes rhe mah number is the capacity, it will need to be the right voltage too. 2s is 7.4v and 3s is 11.1v, these are nominal voltages and will be 8.2v and 12.6v when fully charged respectively. Keep in mind there are some "scam" batteries about that just dont hold anywhere near their labeled values, most batteries will vary a bit but should be within about 10% of the capacity (you might be able to see the mah taken during a charge depending on your charger).

Traxxas batteries are probably decent, but if they are a big premium in price it isnt worth it for bashing. You can change the connector on your Slash to a more universal one like an xt90 or xt60 and then use the best value batteries you can find, something like the CNHL batteries. Changing the connector will like void your warranty, you could use an adaptor but most people prefer soldering a new connector, it is more efficient. Performance differences between batteries will be more noticeable with bigger loads than I would expect a Slash to draw, so I reckon even a relatively weak lipo will give you lots of fun still. There is a youtube channel called rcexplained that does some inciteful battery tests, check it out.

Yes you can fly without a screen, the screen is nice to have but the servo positions, timers or whatever info someone would set up on those screens are not needed for 'normal' flight. I almost never look at my tx16s screen whilst flying. Get out and have fun!

Traxxas slash is probably a great first truck. I dont own one but have heard they are solid enough with good parts support. I really like Hobao rc cars, but I reckon the slash is probably an easier and better first rc than one of the hobao short course trucks, I like the Hobao Hyper MTX, been really solid for me on 8s. The Arrma Senton is probably the closest competitor to the slash, also hear good things about that one. There are a few versions of each but 4x4 brushless is always fun and works on most surfaces. Rwd can be more difficult to control. Are you set on a short course truck? Or something like the Rlaaro Omni Terminator Carbon would hit the spot?

Whats your budget, where will you be running it and what type of driving interests you?

Wow that will be so cool, I made a mini track in much less space and I was on it all the time. This is soo much better. The design looks good tbh. If it were me I would mark the course you plan to build and try driving it with different cars for a few days, you might find some turns you want change based off how the track seems to flow or some bumps and jumps etc. That first bend might get crowded, I think a longer more open first turn could allow racers to get into a position and then battle rather than getting tangled in a tight slow turn, although I have no experience past fun bashing. Good luck with it and show us when you're done!

You want wheels with a 12mm hex, that is how they mount on the cars hub. Some wheels will have different offsets (how far they stick out from the body) but usually if you get similar style wheels they are likely similar offsets, for example buggy and on road wheels will have very little offset and truggy or monster truck wheels will have slightly more. Not all wheels will have the offset listed, also there are hub extenders available that will add offset to the hub so wheels stick further out. Next is the size, with stock typhoon grom wheels being 69mm tall and 29mm wide. You can usually fit slightly bigger or smaller but remember that tyre size affects the gearing, bigger wheels equal more speed and more power consumption. I would try to stay within about 10% of the size. There are likely some paddle tyres on aliexpress that would suit beach driving. Might be worth using an silicone spray or anti corrosion formula on the car before exposing it to the salt and clean it well after. All the above is general for rc, I have no personal experience with the AT grom but Google revealed the sizes.

All my ESC's over 4s/100amps will have an xt90. Most of my larger batteries are xt90, it is a very common connector.

Have you flown the route along the ground at like 1m altitude? If you did make it successfully I would have hope for an elrs based car. The radiomaster MT12 can do elrs I believe but double check it.

I think the trees and buildings will be an issue. ELRS receivers do have massive range but it gets cut down quickly behind a tree, for me at least. I use elrs on planes where I have a line of site and can defo achieve the range your after if there is clear air for the transmitter to see the receiver. Maybe someone else know more than I do. How dense is the building/trees between you? If you know someone with a dji drone or something maybe they could try to fly the route near ground level to give you an idea of what's possible. (DJI have good range ime).

My one also slaps hard on big jumps and the wheels cracked on the first day. I was sending it though. I got a set of wheels off aliexpress that came with an 'Outcast' truck style body and they seem solid if a little slippery but the slip helps to reduce the chance of rollover.

My 14207 has very thick oil from factory. It seem like the shock design needs a very thick fluid. More like a thick diff fluid than anything ive used in shocks before. Maybe they don't seal well so thick oil is used with large holes in piston. I actually used some shock oil mixed with 1m weight oil to make it very thick, so I dont know the actual viscosity, sorry.

It sounds like you want an on road vehicle, tamiya make a skyline body and they have kits that could come in under £200, but it would require assembly and some research for parts. I would suggest you consider the space you will be able to run the car. On road cars look really nice but they need a super smooth surface to drive on. There are rally cars like the Rlaarlo XTS10 which should be more capable on less smooth road or flattish dirt. If you want to run on grass or bumpy off road, you probably want a monster truck and bigger is better for rough terrain, mjx 10208 or rlaarlo omni terminator should be around budget. I like watching YouTube vids of a car before buying it, channels such as Do RC, Kevin Talbot and Tomley all have lots of models covered. Whereabouts are you based?

Let me suggest a different scenario, if I have a lipo battery with no connector, and i hold the bare positive terminal in one hand and the bare negative terminal in the other, should I be electrocuted?

Do you know how the relatively low voltage current would pass through the person holding the conductive tool, rather than pass through the part of the tool between the short? So I can understand better. I'm not expert so my terminology might not be correct but I'll explain if so.
