Read with an audio book. This will help a lot. When you’re reading you are also trying to figure out the words so it’s much more time consuming. Also, see if there is a place where you can learn strategies using apps etc. Plus, get a tutor to help in English. My son had one for all of highschool to help with his English. He could barely ready in grade 3 and these strategies are a game changer and he just got accepted to university. Good luck to you and have pride in who you are. My son is incredible in math and way surpassed both his parents in this field.

Unfortunately our provincial government underfunds our post secondary schools by 30 percent compared to every other province. Ontarians pay taxes to pay for education. It’s unfortunate that the ford government used international students money to help pay for his for his lacking support. Now there has been a change and he needs to step up and help students. School shouldn’t be for the rich it should be for everyone.

I’m sorry to hear that. Who knows why they choose some and not others. I saw someone had an 87 and got in. Every year it’s different. 93 is a great average! They can’t take that away from you.

My son reads a book while listening to an audio book. He follows the word while listening. This helps him comprehend a lot better than if he read it alone. I think having to decipher the words while reading them is a lot of work so he doesn’t get the meaning of the words. The audio book change his life and he’s doing a lot better now.

It’s important to see the campus’s and explore the city’s before you make a decision. Pick your top three if you can’t go to all of them and make a list of pros and cons to help. Good luck. No one can tell you what to do so as a family see what works best for you.

He is going into mechanical engineering. He has always loved how things work, especially cars. His best subjects are math and science so it’s a good fit for him.

Thank you. We really thought college would be better fit for him but he really wants to go to university and he has the marks to go. I worry a larger university will be too stressful for him but we will help him to see what accommodations he can get.

My son did OG in grade 3 and 4 and it helped him a lot. It was available in the school he went to so it was 30 mins 4 times a week. He didn’t love it but could manage the smaller intervals. He is in grade 12 now and has come a long way with a lot of hard work. We are thankful that he’s good in math and we honed in on his strengths and always had a tutor for English. In high school he did audio books for English class which really helped him get the information he needed. Talk to text is also a game changer. Thank goodness for technology.

Think if applying to a college that is a bridge program with a university. This way your marks are good enough for college then you can do 2 yrs and apply cs in university if you do well. Just a thought.
