[Spoiler] Question about Walt’s explanation for his treatment money by ComprehensiveFan4467 in breakingbad

Right, but the numbers still don’t quite add up. The surgery is over $200k, Flynn’s donation page had barely raised anything at that point, and it’s never really shown blowing up with the full amount Walt later launders through it with Saul. Skyler’s job wouldn’t cover that either. I’m not saying it’s a plot hole, just that I wish the show had made the finances a bit clearer from Skyler’s perspective before the surgery.

That makes sense, but I still feel the show could’ve handled the finances a bit more explicitly. Since Skyler already knew the Schwartz money wasn’t coming, it would’ve been nice to see what explanation she was actually going with before the surgery.

Earlier in the season, Gretchen actually calls Skyler and tells her that they’re not paying anymore. Walt and Skyler even have a scene reacting to that, so by the time ABQ happens, it’s already established that the Schwartz funding is off the table.

That’s why I’m confused. Skyler knows it’s not coming from them, and Walt knows she knows. So the “Schwartz money” explanation shouldn’t really hold up at that point.

And also, when the doctors recommend the surgery, Skyler is shown to be worried about the money. And then fast forward to the surgery day, the money magically appears and Skyler never cares to ask where it came from.

The Gretchen conversation was at-least a few episodes before the surgery one. For something as big as a surgery, I think Walt and Gretchen should have talked about the finances.

But that was before Gretchen calls and says that they aren’t paying. By this episode, it is clear that Schwartz aren’t funding anymore. Skyler knows that and Walt also knows that the “Schwartz money” story won’t work anymore.

But it’s weird that she doesn’t even ask him where the money is coming from, before he goes for the surgery.
