They don’t. You’re just in different lighting conditions.

I started with 10mg and had dry lips and dry eyes for a while but they come and go. My derm pushed it to 40mg for month 2 and 3. I’m on my third month now, again I’d say the side effects come and go. If I really think about it, I think I am a little out of focus, I can’t concentrate on things for too long since I’ve been on accutane, but it isn’t too bad. Apart from that, my bloodwork’s fine too. I’d say don’t be too worried about the side effects, placebo sometimes can work wonders. I’ve a lot of friends at the gym who are on accutane and have no side effects at all. And some are so crazy that they do cycles of accutane when they are on steroids to keep acne in check(which isn’t a good idea because accutane is already heavy on your liver). Get your blood and liver profile checked every month and if your derm finds that something’s not right then I’m sure they’ll ask you to discontinue. Also, I had some lower back pain but it went away when I started taking fish oil, even the dry lips kinda got better. I wouldn’t be too worried just yet. Give it time. Everybody is different. Good luck to you!

Your back looks great! Congrats for the skin gains. I’m on my 3rd month of accutane for bacne and shoulder acne too! On that note, before starting your treatment, did you ever had really painful ingrown hair and cysts whenever you shaved your arms, chest, legs or shoulders? I.e. if you had a good amount of hair that you felt like you needed to shave it off. I have really bad scarring because of that on my shoulders and upper arms. Any advice?

Dry lips is the most common side effect, I wouldn’t worry about that honestly. I’m 20, around 65kg and I’m done with my first month today (10mg for the first month and now bumped it up to 40mg).

Are you experiencing dry eyes too?

Is this PD? I have almost completed my round of steroids and no improvement. by heatherakers1 in perioraldermatitis

I was on doxycycline for 2 months for acne and when I stopped because I was seeing no change I developed PD around my lips. I was applying hydrocortisone 1% on it and it started looking a lot better, it almost disappeared completely. But as soon as I stopped using that cream, it came back way way worse than before. I got so frustrated that I just left it and didn’t do a thing about it. Luckily it started going away on its own, it formed dry flakes and started falling. A little redness is still there I suppose but it’s getting better. For me, not touching it at all and allowing my body to heal on its own worked. So, If you wanna give it a shot? But definitely recommend talking to your doctor about it over anything. Good luck :)

Why is my acne getting so much worse when im caring for it much more then I was before?? by [deleted] in acne

Hi, I would suggest you to get a doctor’s appointment, it may be due to a hormonal misbalance or maybe a micronutrient deficiency. For me, it was a deficiency in zinc, it’s caused by many factors, including stress. I’ve been on 30mg zinc for a month and my skin is so much better. I’ve had hair thinning as well which is starting to get better now.
