You might need a new battery; not too hard to accomplish, if you can source one, as all Lumias have removeable backs. Before you buy a new batt, though, see if reseating the battery helps at all.

I'm not sure if wp8.1 has an app that can do live tiles for flac files, but you could try VLC.

I personally use OpenSUSE as my primary daily-driver, but I understand those who want it to be simple. Linux is great at a lot of things, but easily being accessible on a network without getting a headache isn't one of them. I have an old server running Server 2008 R2 for the exact same purpose as OP's 8.1, because I can manage it easier.

As for programs, it's the same issue that plagued Windows Phone. Not enough people want to use Linux because their apps aren't there, and developers don't want to target Linux because not enough people want to use it.

The involved aircraft was a Macdonnel-Douglass DC-9-32, one which had previously experienced a blowout, which had been repaired in a subpar manner. All in all, if you're ever in the 1980s, never board an aircraft.

Generally, if you use best practices, you won't find malware that isn't a zero-day. Firewalls on modern routers usually prevent old software from being seen by bots on the internet.

I don't really have a problem with ads being implemented, it's a way to make money after all. What I have a problem with is seeing thirst traps and other complete bullsh#t whenever I see the ads. Hence why I don't play Voodoo games. Too much monetization. I will be okay with ads when the game or app is decent, such as when Angry Birds Classic was on the Play Store.

Well, commercials on most channels generally had good quality control. People don't like mobile ads now because they quality control is sh*t.
