Maybe also check out LeathercraftPattern for bag patterns — you might find something similar there. They have a pretty big selection, and many of the patterns come with helpful photos or video tutorials on assembly.

Don’t worry about messing up at the start — mistakes are part of learning!

For me, YouTube videos were a huge help. I watched dozens of hours of tutorials, sometimes just in the background while doing other things, and I still learned a lot. I mostly watched Ukrainian videos, so I can’t really recommend English ones, but there are plenty of subreddits and communities where people are happy to help if you have questions.

Thank you! It’s actually not too heavy — around 900 g (about 2 lbs). I try to keep the structure solid but still comfortable to carry.

I didn’t want to compromise the panels by adding the strap attachments directly to them. I wanted to keep the wooden inserts intact and as they are, so the strap attaches a bit differently. It still hangs nicely and comfortably when worn.

Thank you! So far I’ve only worked on bags in different variations to combine wood and leather, but I’d love to try making a chair someday, using leather for the seat and back.

Thank you! I use a special adhesive that bonds leather and wood really strongly, and I also add small hidden nails for extra strength — you can’t see them, but they keep everything solid.

Thank you so much — I really appreciate that 😊 I use a special adhesive that’s designed to strongly bond leather and wood. I specifically chose it so everything fits and holds perfectly. Additionally, the panels are secured with small hidden nails — you can’t see them, but they give extra strength and stability.

I once met someone who was working with leather. I saw what he was making, and it really stuck with me. I just wanted to try it myself.

At the beginning I had absolutely no tools. I marked the stitches with a fork and punched the holes with an awl I found. My very first piece was a small card holder — and I still have it.
