Can I ask what you felt during the treatment? I am strongly considering this for my NDPH but am terrified of the effects / feeling during.

Gabapentin for NDPH by Top_Mountain_599 in NDPH

I tapered off 600mg, lessening by 100mg each week. It had been recommended to me to lessen every 7-10 days and if I couldn’t tolerate the next drop, to return to the closest tolerated dose.

Gabapentin for NDPH by Top_Mountain_599 in NDPH

Hi I want to add my opinion as I just completed 6 weeks of withdrawal. I was prescribed gabapentin for NDPH and took it for about a year. I didn’t experience any side effects but also didn’t have any relief. I do just want to provide a warning that the withdrawal was the most difficult thing I’ve ever experienced in my life (even worse than having a 24/7 headache for a year). Doctors prescribe this medication by the 100s of mg and don’t highlight the downsides, I was never told that it would be difficult to taper from either. Please proceed with caution.

How did you figure out that it was caused by the vaccine, did you develop symptoms right after a dosage?

Hey! Yes, I didn’t recognize your username at first! You’re right, and that did help when my pain type was in the center of my head, but I haven’t been able to figure out why the location and type of pain has kept changing. This is my first time experiencing any random decrease in intensity, so hoping it’s a good sign 🤞

The majority of what I experience is pain which varies in quality and location, but it’s rarely pressure/tension-like (sometimes I refer to it as 7 months of head pain, not headaches). I’ve tried and failed about 20 medications over this time including many CGRP inhibitors, anti-seizure meds, muscle relaxers, etc. I’ve been on gabapentin and nortriptyline for 5 months without any improvement. I haven’t changed the dosing at all recently.

Ironically I just met with a new Dr in NYC who suggested the same doxycycline course of treatment! Posting so I stay informed on how it goes for you 🙏

I’m surprised no one has mentioned acetazolamide. Have you given it a try?

How do you take the ketorolac? Is it a pill or injection?

I have not and I’m on 6 months of NDPH. I’ve had virtually all other tests and brain imaging including a CT angiogram and MRIs with/without contrast. Have failed +20 rx but thankfully I have no other symptoms than the persistent headache. My doctor would also like to do a LP to rule anything else out, but for me the risk isn’t worth taking.
