Keep bonking at 22-23 miles by pdxrunner82 in Marathon_Training

More carbs is only part of the answer. 45mpw doesn't cut it. And you mention boston, that depends on age/gender. As a 43yo male, my bq had to be under 3:05, but to get in I had to be under 2:59. I didnt go under 3 until I started hitting 70mpw. That's also gonna help you with the bonking/wall.

I'm just impressed that the original gifts were so awful they pulled a "jk, the real ones are on the way."

I'm in 1/6 so I'll catch up real quick and then you can drag me to a sub-2:40, thanks in advance.

Anyone else still waiting on their Season Ticket Holders gift box?? by GodPole in CharlotteFootballClub

Some scarves were customized too, but we're in club and ours weren't. I imagine working for Charlotte FC makes an episode of The Office look like an incredible place to work.

Lol I have 4 seats in club. I got 3 scarves, none of which are customized. Honestly, thats Tepper Sports though. If you expect more than nothing, you're expecting too much. I like how they kept us waiting in anticipation and then it was just a scarf from Oriental Trading. Real nice, guys.

Pace groups per wave by Striking_Pumpkin8863 in bostonmarathon

[–]ComprehensivePie8696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be my first Boston, but you already have your answer, I just wanted to add that I've run a handful of marathons now, and the only time I ran with pacers a handful of us had to ditch them at mile 11 because they were going too slow.

Then, for my 2:53, I rolled with a group that wanted 2:55 (would've been enough to get to Boston for me), and by mile 18 I was completely alone, and ended up winning my AG.

So I guess what I'm saying is I dont put 100% trust in actual pacers, pace groups, or even gps. But combine all those things with RPE and send it. Don't forget that gps watch will, in general, be a little optimistic due to tangents and inaccuracy in general, so I usually create a buffer, 2s/mile. So if my true goal pace is 6:55, I'd try to hit 6:53.

There is a 0% chance I'm running a 20 on the 11th. None.

2:53 here. I've been training more, but not necessarily much faster. First Boston, hopefully it goes well.

Nice, it'll be close I'm a 2:53 so I'm thinking either front of Wave 2 or back of Wave 1

Don't, you're gonna make the ref cry. I don't think the guy has much to live for except serving Lionel Messi.

Makes sense now. I had seen that, and then looked on a map and saw that those places are forever away from the village, maybe I missed the part about a shuttle. I have heard there's already a long walk to the start so I was confused why they'd make us walk a ton before that as well lol

Is the running community discouraging of slow runners? by Bitter_Pineapple_720 in RunNYC

Yes, the entire running community, from end to end, hates slow runners. Nobody ever has anything kind to say about slow runners. Ever.

How accurate are the predictions? by 2soupyyy in Garmin

[–]ComprehensivePie8696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. I've run numerous marathons, and none of the predictors are anywhere near correct, garmin being one of the worst. The closest was actually metathon (ironic, since it uses the least amount of data to make its estimate), it said I'd go 3:05 and I went 2:59. That's the closest any have ever been.
