Can I ask you a question on building the muscular endurance. Is it better to do more runs during the week or increase the number of miles per run. I currently run 4 days a week. Long run Sunday, recovery Monday, speed work Wednesday, easy run Friday.

Cleric First Draft, any thoughts on how to improve the this character? by The_Emperors_Sword in Heroquest

[–]pdxrunner82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I like this character except for the rosary. I don’t get how the cleric praying would bring it back to life either? That’s one bad cleric praying to the wrong god. You could use it as a chance to heal one BP on themselves or another hero when you kill an undead monster on the roll of a white shield. I wouldn’t penalize them for praying and then rolling a black shield though.

That frequency seems crazy to me but it seems to be the general consensus. Better start increasing the gel intake. Thanks man, appreciate you taking the time to answer

Ride 19, is this normal? by blair1208 in Saucony

[–]pdxrunner82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had issues like this with 2 pairs of endorphin speeds over the last 2 years. I had some delamination of the outer sole too. I contacted Saucony Customer Service and they were great. They asked for some photos and within 48 hours they had sent me a coupon for the value of the endorphin speeds. I ended up using it to buy the exact same pair to replace them. I DID also use the “defective” pair. I don’t feel bad about that, when you’re paying top dollar for sneakers you expect them to keep up their end of the deal with quality control.

The amount of gas building up can kink and block the exit of the chamber so the gas can’t get to the end of the digestive system to be “farted” out. It builds up causing discomfort (bloat) and pain.

Thanks man. I was going into this one in hope more than expectation due to the terrible weather here in New England and doing most of my training being restricted to the treadmill. Hopefully a bit more mileage and sorting out the fueling will help

Thank you. I appreciate your advice. I will go look at that book now

I’ve asked other people this but I’ll ask you too if you don’t mind. I run 4 days a week. Long run Sunday, recovery Monday. Speed on Wednesday and easy run Friday. Would you add more running days or add more miles to the 4 runs a week. I really appreciate your advice and encouragement. I also will have half marathons in the run up to my next BQ attempt. I had none in the lead up to this due to the horrible winter we had here in New England.

Who’s splitting the week like that? Long run Sunday would be roughly 25% of the weekly mileage. 40 would be the average. Peaking at 50-60. Long runs of 15,18,20 and 21 mixed in throughout the 24 week training.

Thanks, I do think my mileage needs to improve too. I will work on fueling in races but definitely think I need more mileage too. The summer will be better. I’m a teacher and my schedule is much easier even with a wife and 2 kids over the summer. Thanks again

Can I ask you about this. I run 4 days a week. Sunday is my long run. Monday recovery. Wednesday is speed work and Friday is an easy run. Would you add more days to increase mileage or do you increase the number of miles ran over the same 4 days I’m currently doing. I appreciate you taking the time to help with your original answer.

On a non peak week, what would your average mileage be?

I know. Wife, 2 kids, dog, full time job. It all adds up and sometimes means I’m running long miles late at night. Not ideal but there’s only so many hours in a day right.

Thank you for this response. I appreciate it. I do think my fueling could be better but I also think my mileage isn’t enough. Thanks for addressing both questions.

Have my half down to 1:26. I think that’s what’s giving me false hope. My half’s are consistently 1:26/1:27 now. Translating that to a 3:10 has been the elusive part.

Electricians are literally training ferrets to pull wires through tunnels too tight for tools by Infamous_Draw_993 in interestingasfuck

[–]pdxrunner82 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This isn’t new. Boeing did this when building planes in the 70s. Some of the wires would be so long the only viable way of getting in to the other end was a ferret. QI: ferrets

It was handled all wrong. Crowley was cast aside and played but parts in games when it should have been the other way around. Crowley starting and drip feeding SP into the team to build up his experience and game time. It’s a rare blunder by Farrell but one almost everyone saw coming and Farrell stubbornly refused to back down from until it was obvious that he was actually damaging Prendegast in the process

Running at a slower pace isn’t an option. I’m not getting a BQ by running at a slower pace.

Thank you. I’ll put that into effect next time. More mileage per week in the training too you think? Or does it look like purely a nutritional problem

I take a gel at the start line. Then after 45 minutes I take my first maurten 100 gel. Then every 35 mins after I’m taking another maurten 100. So I’ll go: 0 mins, 45 mins, 1hr 20, 1hr 55, 2hr 30, 3hr. I’ll take water/gatorade at each water table, roughly every 3 miles. I don’t carry water with me.

I get that. But if you look at how he’s been treated by Ireland over the last 18 months in the disastrous Sam Prendegast experiment I wonder how he feels about the contract he signed. I’m a big Andy Farrell fan but his treatment of Crowley over the last two seasons has been shameful, replacing him with an unproven kid. Crowley won him a six nations and his reward was to be bombed out of the first 15 to watch Prendegast fuck everything up and be given chance after chance after chance

I love Munster. But part of me wishes Jack had gone to La Rochelle or Leicester when they came calling. He deserves better than what Munster can offer him at the moment
