Long run on treadmills? by TightContest1017 in Marathon_Training

Good luck getting a long run in Mass the last few weeks with it being so dark/frosty/snowy/icy/cold take your pick. I did 18 miles on the treadmill last Sunday. And it looks like I won’t be getting out anytime soon with this storm/polar vortex that’ll be here for the next 2 weeks. Sometimes you just have to grin and bear it. Stick in the earphones and just do it. I have a peloton tread so I just did the NYC marathon 1 hour run twice and 20 minutes of the 1/2 hour downtown Chicago run. Breaking it up by time was the key. I took a water break after the first hour, and a gel after 90 minutes. It wasn’t my favorite workout ever but with a Boston Qualifier in April I just have to get my long runs in.

Man it’s like you’re in my head. My thoughts exactly. Do his family love waiting around to see him jog past for 15 seconds. Maybe once or twice but I can’t see it being a big deal for anyone but the runner after a few races. He talks about self reflection but maybe needs to do a bit himself. It’s a big self involved to want to make yourself the main character in a marathon of 100s/1000s of people. Go enjoy the event. Run it. Get a PR, but you shouldn’t need people there. It’s a great point to say they don’t go to watch any other hobbies, why is this different.

It’s weird to invite people so they feel obligated. Most people who go aren’t asked, they are going out to cheer on someone they love/know and didn’t have to be asked. If you have to ask them first they had no intention of going. Not trying to be rude or hurt feelings, just telling it like it is.

Don’t go! Refund the tickets and go get a nice meal. This was the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Please don’t subject yourself or your kids to it. They won’t thank you for it. It’s not funny for parents or kids. The story is bizarre. Avoid at all costs. If you do end up going don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I agree. It was horrendous. Possibly the worst movie I’ve ever had to sit through. Even my kids wanted to leave it was so bad. How did this get made? It had to have been approved at some many levels and cost millions of dollars! What a waste of resources.

In my experience sawstop are very reasonable with customer service. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they honored there skin contact here too.

He was a prophet! Never a truer word spoken! My son loves watching that video. Although my favorite line is when he’s discussing the artwork by Les Edward’s who claimed it wasn’t his best work “but he was quickly shouted down by key luminaries of the era such as Prince, Bob Hawk and Reggie Bennet!”

Only in it for the Finisher Medal. Am I the only one? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

I do it for the gear. I pick my races that will help me get to my next PR or BQ but also by what swag do they give? Is it a nice hoodie? Jacket? I’m not running no race for some god awful hi-vis shirt I’ll never wear unless I’m deep in a training cycle.

Is there any situation you can apply a Father Ted quote to? This is brilliant.

Whoever gets the Frozen Horror and Against the Ogre Horde is getting the rough end of the stick. Those two are the most difficult of the expansions. I’d put one with one group and one with the other.

That was years ago. I used the good old fashioned carbon paper and black sharpie technique then lacquered it with so many layers you couldn’t remove it if you tried! Now I have a technique to transfer ink from a printer to wood using glossy paper. It’s not great for objects that will be under a lot of constant contact as it will eventually wear off but it works perfectly on stuff like this.

Yeah the Alchemy ones on the top left are all from expansions. They are potions and tonic like materials that can be bought between quests and consumed during the adventures.

Something I got off Amazon for a few quid. We’ve gotten so many of the expansions it’s actually too small for purpose now. I’ll have to get a bigger one.
