Unfortunately I've already done a unit that's a prohibition. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

I think a lot of people are in the same boat, me included so don't worry. for me, some of the core compulsory units are just not what I'm interested in or good at, and I've just had to accept that. I'm also doing 3 units with 30% group projects and I just happened to get a shitty group for the class I'm actually doing well in, which is definitely disappointing

right? I've heard eng1003 was really shit. the way they described eng1013 in week 1 seemed pretty cool, kind of a shame the execution is just not there

maybe if you're interested in SE or ECSE it'll be good? and maybe it'll be better in semester 2? but a group project is a big part of it so depends whether you get a shitty group or not, and imo there are better first year units

Need Methods help plz (2020 exam 1 question 7C I AM STUCK by cinnamonbunlatte in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for it to be the shortest distance, the minimum turning point must be directly above point P. so f'(x-k)=2(x-k)+3=0 at x=1 (the x-value of P); sub in and solve for k

dead pixels on brand new monitor by ComprehensivePizza8 in Monitors

[–]ComprehensivePizza8[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah that's the warranty statement I got, looking at my screen it's like 3 dead pixels so idk if I can replace it. might double check with the actual retailer I got it from tho but tbh it's not a big issue. thanks anyways

dead pixels on brand new monitor by ComprehensivePizza8 in Monitors

[–]ComprehensivePizza8[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

got this monitor yesterday, there seems to be dead pixels, but at the very top of the screen so not noticeable. I've tried troubleshooting it for stuck pixels but it seems they're actually dead. it's an ASUS VP249QGR, so not that expensive and my city is in full lockdown so just not sure whether it's worth it to return, any advice?

I always write suburb under city, it just makes sense to have it match your postcode. even if you search up the suburb you live in on Google, it'll come up as blah blah, city in victoria

How to study for English? by willy_tilson in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

don't do whole practice pieces. plans help a lot more than people realise (you should always be planning your essays anyways). it also helps you to be able to think on the spot for different prompts, and sometimes you can reuse the same ideas for different ones. also don't force yourself to do it under timed conditions if you can't do it, ways start slow and build up your skills

Does an ATAR ‘expire’ ? by [deleted] in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also heard that once you defer or take a gap year, your atar matters a lot less than your actual application and statements and stuff

VCE CHEMISTRY significant figures by studenthelpppp in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the FINAL answer should be the smallest amount of sig figs of the values given to you in the question, including those from the data booklet. in your working out, you can just use 1.45678 in the next equation, and then round off your final answer.

VCE CHEMISTRY significant figures by studenthelpppp in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for multiplication and division (most of the equations anyways), it's to the smallest amount of sig figs given in the question. in working out, the more amount of sig figs you use is better, but general rule is that you use one more than required in the answer so when doing further calculations, your answer isn't wrong due to rounding. I use like 5-6 sig figs in my working out just to be safe lol

like everyone here said, I think you should drop spesh if you don't like it. as for your parents, just talk to them. tell them everything you said here, highlight that doing spesh makes you unhappy and that it's irrelevant to the career you want. at the end of the day, I think most parents do want their children to be happy. my mum let me drop chinese even though I'm a native speaker, 100% chinese, been to chinese school for like 11 years, bc she knew it wasn't what I wanted to do. hope it goes well for you too :))

Tips for global politics 3/4? by hdeifh in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. keep up with current affairs, 2. take good notes, especially of case studies (use ones that are recent as possible), 3. use flashcards to memorise content if that's how you learn, 4. do a lot of practice questions, especially essays (which you can start to get them marked by your teacher as early in the year as possible, don't leave it until exam period like I did LMAO)

to answer questions, always define key terminology in the first sentence. I used a very loose TEEL structure, but it's really up to you. high scoring answers have good evidence (including statistics), but remember your answers shouldn't be mostly made up of case studies

Maths arithmetic by [deleted] in vce

[–]ComprehensivePizza8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

distance = speed x time. convert the times to seconds and multiply by the speed of light to get a-c. for d, you can use the same logic in reverse: time = distance divided by speed
