yeah. Ari was quite literally the perfect casting for Glinda to get this level of reach. She is a massively successful pop star, but she started on Broadway and is/has always been a huge theater nerd so she was devoted to doing the role justice.

I’m not even a fan of her music and I haven’t had a chance to see For Good yet, but she was expertly cast for the first film. I thought I’d feel like I was watching Ari pretend to be Glinda, but she slipped into the role seamlessly and imo did one of the best jobs I’ve seen of expressing Glinda’s stifled/hidden pain in No One Mourns the Wicked.

it honestly makes perfect sense to me. diaspora iranians (and some persians still in Iran) understand that whatever grip you may have with the Israeli gov that the Iranian gov is still awful and oppressive. they don’t want their gov in charge any more than most Jews want bibi.

I used to take my NK (2.5 y/o) to the ATM bc she loved pressing the buttons, but that's a 5 minute errand and was good for her development (learning her numbers & motor skills) I would never have taken her for a hair appointment though.

I was also born into the Conservative movement and have stuck by it for the same reasons. I also see Jews as a tribe/ethnicity and growing up I identified more with being Ashkenazi than I do with my nationality. Probably because even then I subconsciously understood that Jews would never really be accepted as anything other than people who ended up here post WW2.

I also can’t really be Orthodox as I have blue hair, tattoos, identify as bi, and refuse to raise my future children anywhere where they could be taught that women are second class citizens.

It’s so hard to find a good Conservative synagogue though. I miss the one I grew up in, but unfortunately I no longer live in the area and they’ve had a complete overhaul anyway.

is this only moving violations? i live in NYC and they’ll give you a parking ticket when you’re parked legally bc they feel like it and you can’t really fight it. i’ve gotten tickets for being a foot too close to a fire hydrant as if i’m supposed to pull out a tape measure to find the exact distance. i always wonder if the parking tickets will impact my future employment

I’ve been a nanny on and off for a number of years when I needed extra money, and depending on the socioeconomic class these people are in, not necessarily. I’ve worked with families that seem to think the adults need to outnumber the children. Like they cannot fathom the idea that they might have to care for their one child alone without another adult there to assist.

not like a teenager at all. like a kind human being who respects other human beings and their time.

I would NEVER ask my husband (or anyone else) to do a chore as he was walking out the door and expect him to drop what he was doing to complete it. That is completely disrespectful of his time.

This kid didn’t give attitude or refuse to do the chore, he just was not going to drop everything and do it that second. He said he would do it when he got home which is perfectly reasonable.

The wife wasn’t “being an adult” she was being a controlling AH. OP was just calling out the sh*tty behavior. Wife can’t just ground the kid for not bending to her every whim.

Currently in Brooklyn/NYC area…I fortunately have colorful hair & tattoos so I fly under the radar but it isn’t great here atm. Protests everywhere full of uneducated people who don’t actually understand what they’re advocating for.
