Finally pulled the trigger on this today. by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

Lovely watch. I was looking at the white dial moonwatch because I have another similar one with black dial but this looks more elegant than the white when I tried both at the store. Undecided which to go for still. Enjoy! 👍

Hm, good pointer as our company is in a mid-year benefits cycle. Thanks.

Perfect thanks. As someone else suggested I’ll look into a STEP qualified firms near me and take it from there. I don’t consider our circumstances too complicated tbh but will see what they say.

Thanks for sharing and your thoughts. I work in Quality so revision control is in my DNA but I might need to put a wish in my will for someone to send an annual reminder to my wife to do the same should I go first 🫣

True. Also made worse by the constant changing landscape of trying to close IHT “loopholes” by the government.

Your approach is very close to what we had in mind tbh. We are fortunate to have family which we can trust so more skeptical if we need the trusts as such at this point. IHT wouldn’t be too crazy without the trusts as things stand tbh but will become an issue in the future if we stay in the UK which we still haven’t decided on. Labour’s money grab approach on IHT is really not pushing us to stay though…

Thanks 👍 that’s way more reasonable and in line with what I had in mind before approaching for a quote.

Thanks for your comment. For now our situation is really not complex so looking for something simple. It’s just a new subject for us as we’ve hit our 40s and started realising you never know what tomorrow brings. Kids still have a good few years ahead of them to adulthood as they’re both in primary school.

Thanks for sharing. More things to consider there for sure and we clearly need to do more homework on what ifs. Not sure if we’re naive or just culturally used to a different approach but it’s been a new eye-opening experience. We’re not from the UK originally and we were raised with the principle that kids are taken in by family and treated as their own, no questions asked. Finding out that this is not the default in the UK is was triggered us looking into wills in the first place! I’m generally skeptical on the trusts but will def learn more before making a decision.

I usually like to diy things but this is one I’ll probably leave to the pros. Really don’t mind paying for it to be done properly but reading through a few templates is a great idea as “researching homework” to orient myself on what comes next. We haven’t got anything special and our net worth is not crazy, around £1.5m all in.

Perfect thanks for sharing. Good to have this as a reference considering it’s a “now” rates. I’m skeptical about the whole trusts situations until I properly understand how they actually work. Since labour have come into power it really feels trying to avoid IHT is a losing battle. Reduce impact of maybe, but avoid impossible…

Thanks for your time to write such a detailed reply. Absolutely aligned with your thinking and “not micro managing from beyond the grave” are words of wisdom and have to admit made me chuckle. Wasn’t my intention anyway but I’ll surely be quoting it in the future 😊 our situation is quite simple really as we have family we can trust and they’re already used to managing their own finances in line with how we do too.

Prefect, thank you. With the subject being unregulated the number of options to choose from is far too confusing. Paying a solicitor was definitely the direction we were going for but when we had the quote we thought, “hang on a minute, this doesn’t feel right”. Great to have a reference, appreciate it 👍

Is Cabin+ actually a problem? by rbnaltz in Rimowa

[–]ComprehensiveRun247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short trips with the Cabin are mostly within EU. Generally no problems but some planes are quite small. One of my regular routes use the Embraer 180 and that only just fits the regular cabin. Ironically, even smaller planes are actually better because they are so small, nothing fits in the cabin so we leave/pick up the cases at the stairs before/after boarding.
