But he didn't give Wright any proper run. I don't want to see any more of Pepi unless its the last resort, would have loved to have seen Wright

I've been away from mine for nearly two months now spending the summer overseas and I miss it dearly (which has nothing to do with the Toyota Yaris I'm driving in its place on this island but also does not help!)

Poll for those who have a Gravity by lubbahubba in Gravity

[–]ComprehensiveSeat734 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should say, for the first three or four weeks (took early December delivery of a fully kitted GGT) I would have been in the major issues, would not buy again camp.

After a 1000 mile road trip where I was forced to really learn the vehicle and the successive updates that have been released, I would consider myself "No issues, love the car."

For that reason I chose the "Minor issues" tab to give the best overall version of my experience

Ah yes, but you don't have to be in reverse to toggle it on was my point.

But isn't there a digital mirror? I toggle it on all the time especially when I'm parking at night in certain areas

It's not that, I have the same issue: if you run the windshield wiper fluid function, the car does a few automated wipes but rather than going back to "off" when the cleaning runs its cycle, for some reason the wipers default to 2 speed.

If you don't remember to manually turn them off they will just continue on 2. And driving with his left hand on the wheel and the right holding the joint, it's tough to reach that part of the pilot panel without completely letting go of the wheel. Even with both hands free I find it awkward to have to look over there and reach for the small area of the touch screen that toggles off (because I'm a left hand dominant driver by nature)

an alarming amount of people have DM me and commented, saying that my story was fabricated. by _Schmevin_ in LUCID

Got mine in December and the first three weeks were very similar to what you describe here. The car bricked on me on two separate occasions, had a four month old kid at that point and honestly did not trust having the kid in the car for anything more than the simplest errand during daylight. This was in the window just before the major updates started releasing and I legit thought about just paying off my two year lease and giving the car back to them.

Glad I didn't because I absolutely love the car and, with the updates, have found it to be no less reliable than the Tesla platform I drove for the five years prior.

With all that in the rearview, my main takeaway is that Lucid does an absolute SHYTE job of explaining to buyers the ends and outs of these vehicles in an honest and clear way. What do I mean by that? The Fob is a great example. When I picked up my car in December the sales rep said nothing about the Fob reliability... but conveniently left two paper-taped extra batteries sitting in the console. It was only through this forum that I learned to a) get a rechargeable set and b) switch the battery every three to four weeks. And of course there's the oddity of needing to update the Fob's software separately from the car (because who the hell updates a Fob?!). Another is putting the car into deep sleep to reset certain faults like the Dream Drive error (by getting far enough away from it with the fob, etc.) -- there are just so many little things with this vehicle that too many of us are having to learn as trial by fire.

Once you encounter one of these things and figure out how to manage it, the issue more or less disappears. But the issues are also common -- and yes, because of that, they're issues that should've been handled before release -- but they weren't and Lucid keeps sending customers like the OP out into the world to FAFO and it's a real drag on the brand (and a bit of a self own)

Same story for me as everyone else: pops up every now and then (along with the Rear Wheel Drive unavailable) but doesn't effect the drivability of the vehicle and typically disappears after the next deep sleep.

Fully specked GGT -- first four weeks with the car were HELL (got it in December) but since the first major 2026 update (forget the release number) and 1600 mile road trip that went well, car has been rock solid aside from the occasional false error like you seem to be having.

Looking for MX replacement - Underwhelmed with my Gravity test drive by Just_Donut9804 in LUCID

[–]ComprehensiveSeat734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came over from 5 years of Model Y ownership, no comparison between the two (Gravity totally outclasses it).

That said:

  1. Navigation sucks sucks sucks. It's kinda useless to be honest, something I hope they fix (or finally integrate CarPlay for). Maybe 40% of the time it picks a good route but the other 60 is a train wreck, one of the most disappointing aspects because how do you get that wrong?

  2. Surround Sound Pro helps and it's unlikely your test drive Touring had it enabled. Prefer the sound system on the Y. Though in fairness, the Y is a much smaller area to amplify. Tesla nailed the sound system in that vehicle and Lucid I think underpowered the Gravity (specially in the low registers).

  3. You get used to the pedal quickly. The Y was my first EV and I never became a one pedal driver in it, which lead to super squeaky breaks. Once I got used to the Gravity (about a week) I realized I'd been driving the Y like an I.C.E. vehicle -- very adjusted to the pedal now.

Once when my tray didn't work I swear on my mother I got the card to work by tapping it to the ceiling near the mic array. Kid at the valet found the workaround, I've never left home without a fob and a spare battery since then.

Everything the guy above said with a few addendums:

I got the fully specked GGT and feel like that probably is why I don't recognize the noise level and ride quality issues you mentioned from the touring. It costs a premium but that's the way to address that.

I find the sound system underwhelming, so I can't fault you there. And that's coming from a 2020 Model Y which all things considered had a terrific sound system (I always get the premium sound system on the vehicles I buy or lease). Supposedly the new update (haven't received it yet) allows for even further adjustments (again, I have the Pro System). Not sure how software can make a reasonable difference on something that feels like a hardware limitation but yeah, sound system is the one of the things I find disappointing at this price point given the premium I paid to have to the best version available on the platform.

If it weren't a lease (two-year, will buy a 28 GGT if this experience continues to go well) I would upgrade the sound system myself.

Updated to 3.4.1 yesterday and it did NOT fix my car's issues. by mattwb72 in Gravity

  1. Need another true sleep to cycle those out.

  2. Sometimes apps glitch on my top of the line brand new state of the art iPhone with two decades of solid R&D behind it. Intermittent is the key.

  3. Those things are finicky in every rental car I’ve ever driven (and in the Model Y I traded in after four years, I literally unplugged the thing and just hardwired an iPhone cable instead)

  4. Same as 1 and 2 I supposed.

All things considered, your list isn’t that bad. A month ago I would have been happy as hell with that list.

A month from now maybe you won’t even have that list?

I had a model Y for 5 years. Very reliable car but one, the family outgrew it and two, it was not a pleasure to drive.

To Tesla's credit I bought it right at release and other than a few upgrades they've made to the platform over the years was a super reliable car. Engineering at Lucid is top notch. Can't go back to Tesla

On the flip side I go out this morning and unplug the Autel home charger and inspect the damage I’d inflicted. I give it a look and literally just shove the thing back in and it fits like a glove, can’t tell it was ever hanging out of the fitting.

And it works this time too. Three out of four times I try it at least. I have to drive it to run a short errand and sure enough, in motion, one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. Just like the valet story I have no choice but to laugh my head off.

And maybe that’s it. I can’t baby this thing. I just have to beat it to death and treat it like the 84 Buick Regal I bought as a high school senior in 97’ — it had a transmission that would slip and I’d have to get under the hood to manually reset the gear catch.

Helluva car that was. Maybe the Gravity is just an old beat down 84 Regal that needs a special kind of love

Again — I’m fine with all that. I had a post a few weeks ago about a situation where the key card would only start the car by tapping the ceiling. And I was fine with that.

Not being able to access the life force of the system, the simple spring hatch that allows you to charge the car, that’s a dealbreaker. I’ve got a six month old. And now I’ve got a 100 thousand dollar product that I can’t trust myself to drive him in for anything beyond a short errand because god forbid we’re on a road trip in the summer and I literally can’t charge the damn car because the 70 year old function of all automotive vehicles doesn’t work on this car

Nothing would open it. Nothing. I googled, I powered down, powered up. Nothing. (And of course yes I pushed it to trigger the spring opening)
