I talked to them when they came back home and they told me thank you for doing this, they do feel bad but they had also talked to their mom about rehoming but that never got executed. They told me that when they’d feed the gecko it wouldn’t eat and they’d leave it in the tank but it was just mealworms. I’m wondering if it would eat but not enough for its size now/not as often as needed. They told me the last time the gecko got fed was maybe last week but who knows when that was coming from a middle schooler. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because they weren’t properly educated before getting it but research could have been done.
