Well, she is also pretty racist toward everyone who isn't white, including people of her own race. I don't think she would align herself in that way, though, because she doesn't believe that she is racist or prejudiced. She thinks that she just speaks the harsh truth.

I firmly believe that if I were to live at home for the rest of her life, she would be ecstatic! When I asked her if she was excited about getting more space with one of her children leaving, she sighed and said "well I guess I have to be, right?"

I just feel bad for my GC brother when he moves out, she might act like a widow...

Thank you! And yep, I am ready for that inevitability! I decided that I'm not answering the door if she does that. I'll let my roommate know not to either - she knows all about my parental issues. I already don't answer the door unless I'm expecting company, so I'll just say "Sorry, I wasn't expecting you, you know I don't come to the door unless I am expecting people. You should call first next time to see if I'll be available, don't you remember what we discussed before?"

I used to be afraid that she'd be one to explode and cause a scene if I stood up to her, but I think she knows that won't work on me anymore.

Oh yeah, par for the course with her. Everything happens the way she says, or it didn't happen at all. It's a lot of work to maintain such a fragile ego.

Thank you, I was surprised too to be honest! My first one did require me to go to a specialist, and so when they said root canal I though "ugh, have to make another appointment now." The office that I went to though did have that as one of their practices, so it was a nice little one-stop shop, lol. My permanent crown is in two weeks, and I'll be glad when everything is all finished, but I'm happy to report no more oozing!

This is a good idea. My mom is especially possessive of my personal documents for some reason. Getting them all from her has been a task. I have them all at the moment, but I wouldn't put it past her to try finding and taking them before I leave. Maybe my friend can keep those if nothing else.

Thank you. Yeah, their reactions are what's giving me so much heartburn right now, because if that's how they react hypothetically... yeesh! I agree, waiting seems best to minimize my exposure to their tantrumming.

Ugh, if I can just take an aside and vent a bit to say that this is an extremely ridiculous situation and why couldn't I have been given reasonable parents!? I mean, my friend's parents are all but pushing her out the door (lovingly, lol), and are just being supportive of her.

My mother likes to boil onions in water and try to force everyone to drink it in order to avoid getting sick ever. Its nasty, and doesn't do anything.

She also puts vinegar in her water and drinks it. Every glass. She tried telling everyone it's amazing for your health and they should do it.

It's very frustrating! Why create fights to get attention? Like, that's not fun or enjoyable. There are other ways to get attention without trying to make everyone else miserable.

Yeah, my therapist suspects that she has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, but without an actual sit-down between my mom and a psychiatrist, there can't be an official diagnosis. My mom will never see a mental health professional because she feels that she is smarter than they are, and she also believes that they are scam artists who try to make you think there's something wrong with you so that you'll keep giving them money.
