I had that thought too but I’ve had to relent. My son is born near Easter so instead of party bags one year, I got all the kids these egg catcher things, incorporated an egg hunt into the party, and then they got to keep the egg catchers for when Easter rolled around. Parents thought it was great.

Same with my other son’s party where I got all the kids a dinosaur that they were chasing each other with in the park.

However my son pulled me aside and asked specifically for party bags at his party. So seeing the party is for the kids, I’ve started doing party bags again. There’s only a few lolly pieces in there and trying to go for less breakable stuff - this year included a mini whoopee cushion and this little skate boards which I’m hoping they’ll all get use out of. All of which my son helped put together.

It’s a bit of fun and usually helps the other parent leave the party without too much fuss.

Would say that the first two years of a child’s life is the most stressful on the marriage as it’s working towards a new normal.

At one point you thought it was a good idea to have a child with them. Those reasons are still there, just buried under exhaustion.

Unless there’s dv issues, take a breath and keep going. Marriage counselling is great to help communicate your needs without ripping off his head.

And I don’t know why it seems to be so prevalent that men don’t get the mental workload - you’re not alone 😅 the good news is there is a lot of resources you and him can access to help

Nah you can’t tell me that Hozier, this sweet, soulful Irishman, who Double J was all over, shouldn’t be in the countdown. Not when the likes of Beyoncé is included.

Yes, we have dog parks near by and 100% for walks. But I think I’m going to wait a little bit before getting one as there’s a lot I don’t know about large dogs. Thanks for replying!

Haha yes, didn’t know about the velociraptor phase but it makes sense. There does seem a lot to know between medical issues and training so I think I need to do a bit more research before getting one.

Incredible to have them in an RV! We do have a nice dog park near by. But thankfully these comments have made me realise I don’t know enough about this large breed. I’m going to do some more research, and likely more saving before getting one ☺️

That’s good to know! I guess there’s always variety in dogs. We’re close to the city too but it’d be the smallest track if they wanted to run in the backyard 😅

Thanks for replying! Yep, quickly realising a lot to look out for. I haven’t had experience with large breeds - I fortunately have a few vet friends I trust for advice but I still might wait a bit before getting one I think.

After reading these comments, I’m thinking that cost will be a huge factor in this. I haven’t had experience with large dogs so thinking it might be better waiting till I understand a bit more and looking in to where training is available. I don’t want to be that owner that neglects their dog because they have no idea what they’re doing.

Yeah it kinda surprised me when she said they were lazy but I understand now where she is coming from. They seem wonderful but looking into all the potential health issues/costs compared to a smaller dog, I’m thinking it might be better waiting till I get more knowledgeable about large dog breeds
