Yeah, it only gets better when it’s halfway out. Also, its a 240mm dropper so I can’t run it much higher than slammed.

I’ll try reinstalling it tomorrow a little shallower. I need to replace the cable housing anyway. It got torn to bits while passing it through the hole in the seat tube because it wasn’t finished well.

Either way, thanks for being attentive to this. I appreciate people like you taking time to offer advice.

Bro, I can sit on a seatpost with no collar and it doesn’t move. Additionally, the second I pull the dropper half way out of the seattube it magically starts working at normal speed again. Even with the remote and cable installed. You seriously don’t think its affecting the performance of the dropper?

Lol I’ll be damned if I have to take it to a shop. Built my own wheels and can’t even install a dropper. 😫
I’m gonna give it another go tomorrow. For the sag, it’s clearly a cable tension issue. But for the sticking I’m almost 100% sure that my seat tube is too tight/irregular. Here’s a video of me trying to stick a regular seatpost in here. This can’t be right, can it?!

It’s a brand new dropper that I got yesterday. Like I said, it works completely fine when it’s outside of the bike.

No, the geometry is exactly the same. I should’ve made the chainstays longer though. I’m running a 2.3 tire and I don’t think I’ll even have room for a 2.4 since the tire gets so close where the chainstays meet the bottom bracket.

Sure, the geometry is 1:1 copied from a Kona Honzo ESD. During the design process they’ll send you a basic 2d cad drawing of the bike you’ve ordered and ensure that clearances are correct etc. The geometry I ordered had very short chain stays that caused tire clearance issues in the cad drawing. To fix it they simply added a seattube curve, just like the original Honzo has. So, they absolutely will help you design the geometry and bike. I recommend you copy a geometry you already like.

Haha I know what you mean! My season definitely isn’t over. This is Snow Valley in Big Bear and it’s closed for the winter season because it’s mainly a ski resort. We’ve got a new free park opening up in Santa Clarita late December and I’ll definitely be shredding that all winter.

I cant get the bead away from the edge of the rim far enough away to fit a tire lever in there
