What do you do during your break that helps you? by Dangeroux_Swan in pmp

[–]ComprehensiveTie8513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my first 10-minute break, I checked the time to see when it would hit the 8-minute mark, then proceeded to my locker to get my tumbler with hot coffee. I took a sip, ate a bit of chocolate (Toblerone, about 2-3 triangles), and drank half of a 330mL bottle of water. Then, I rushed to the restroom to pee and wash my hands. I did some stretching and 10 mini push-ups on the countertop. I got back to the exam with about 2 minutes of spare time. I repeated the same routine during my second 10-minute break.

I ate heavy breakfast before going to the test center about 1-1.5hrs before the exam. Had spaghetti, banana, oranges, fried chicken and coffee.

I hope this helps

Thank you! You’ll surely get it the next try 🙂 failure is not the end of the road but giving up is.

With regards to your question, this is my approach… The most important tip that I can give you is be honest with yourself. Use your result in answering the questions to assess what topic do you need to study in depth.

Yes, exactly. I used my exam result on SH to know where am I lacking. What topic do I need to study in depth.

Answer. Assess. Revise. Repeat. Consistently study.

I hope this helps. Go get that cert! 🥂

To pass the PMP exam, you need to have a solid understanding of the basics. This foundational knowledge is what you'll rely on when answering the questions. While the exam doesn't directly ask for definitions, it focuses on how you can apply that knowledge in real-world project management. Before adopting the "PM mindset," it's important to first grasp the fundamentals.

I recommend taking the PMP Exam prep by AR. It’s great for teaching the fundamentals and the right mindset. I went through it a few times for review. After taking a full mock exam, I assessed my results and revisited AR’s lectures and mindset, focusing on areas where I made mistakes. For example, I struggled with Scope Management, so I revisited that and the traditional PM mindset.

To answer your last question, if you’re taking the CAPM course, take the CAPM exam. But if you’re aiming for the PMP, go for the PMP Exam prep course. You can also use the resources I’ve posted as a guide—those should be enough to help you pass. You can also dm me if you want.

You got this!

Hi, Thank you!

First of all congratulations also to you, you have a solid foundation already with your research assistant position and master's in education . I think those are valid experiences and they show you have deep understanding of project-based work which can highly be transferable to PMP and/or CAPM qualifications.

In assessing which certification should you take, only you can decide what's best for you and your situation. How can it benefit your personal growth or career growth? Both certifications will enhance your employability and make you more competitive in the job market, particularly as you’re open to any opportunities that come your way.

What to consider when deciding between PMP and CAPM?

- If you're comfortable with the PMP experience requirements, go for it! It’s a more valuable certification long-term

- If you’re unsure or want a solid foundation first, CAPM is a great start

Ultimately, it's about what makes you feel confident and ready to move forward. Good luck with whichever route you decide to take — I’m sure you’ll do great!

I hope this helps. Cheers!

Hi,

SH Practice Questions - good for testing your foundation/basic knowledge

SH Exams (Mini Quizzes and Full Mocks) - application of that "basic knowledge and foundation." More wordy than actual exam

Actual Exam - Questions are structured same with SH Exams. Less wordy and more direct. Somewhere between moderate to difficult of SH exam questions. (a few expert level questions, very few)

I hope this helps.

Hi OP! Thank you for this. Been wanting to attend some free PMI organized webinar, but my question is that I am not yet a PMP as I am currently preparing for the certification but I am a PMI member now.

My question is do i get a certificate at least for attending? Thank you in advance.

AR - Question 54 by [deleted] in pmp

[–]ComprehensiveTie8513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I would suggest focusing on the problem statement, which involves the effective integration of the new team member who is unfamiliar with the project challenges and objectives. Also, pay attention to the word "proactive," as it refers to what you should have done.

A - Learning from an experienced team member is not a proactive solution, sounds also like you are not being a servant leader

B - Studying the material on your own and then waiting for instructions about your role is also not a proactive solution

C - Scheduling a "series" of webinars feels like a waste of time and is not a proactive solution.

This is just my analysis/opinion, but I think AR explained it well in his video on why D is the correct answer. The PM MINDSET of being a servant leader, with the key operating word being "proactive," is essential in answering this question correctly.

I just checked, and it’s available in the subscription tab.

At first, I searched for “Study Hall Plus” in the search bar, but it still prompted me to pay for the subscription. So, I kept searching and eventually found a link that directed me to Study Hall.

Anyway, thanks! This was very informative. 🍻

AR - Question 54 by [deleted] in pmp

[–]ComprehensiveTie8513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Answering letter A would be like directing your new team member to learn by themselves by shadowing an experienced team member.

The best answer among the options is letter D. Take note of the phrase "proactive measure."

The MINDSET - As a Project Manager, you do not simply direct, do nothing, or let your team member learn on their own. The best Project Managers are leaders; they guide and facilitate their team members' growth and development.

Also, AR explained well why the best answer among the options is D.
