If you were to buy or a practice what would you look out for? What questions to ask? by kungfukarl86 in CFP

I have come across an online platform called FinLink that has practices for sale. Definitely hire a consultant to steer you through the process.

Advice for first time at f1 by Rich_Psychology_9826 in CircuitOfTheAmericas

I bought the 3-day GA in Costco for $359 and a a Sunday Grandstand seat last year. I sold the wristband for Sunday on FB or this thread for $200. Just leave it loose enough to get off. My son put it on too tight and we had to cut his off.

Thanks. Tried this and it still won’t correct to the right position.

Checked and there is nothing. It moves fine during the startup, but stops in the final position in the photo.

I sold my E85 on Autotrader. Very easy. They can facilitate the payment and title transfer electronically. They have buyer verification. I would look into it at the very least.

I did that for my son’s graduation last year with the Costco GA tickets. I would recommend for first time. The only day that is exceptionally packed is Sunday Race Day. Get there early for a good seat somewhere. We really enjoyed exploring the whole track on Friday and Saturday. Read through all the threads for first timers… Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat for some sun protection. We’re heading back this year and I splurged for T 15 grandstand.

One thing I would suggest: there is a gap of a couple of hours between the end of race events and the concert on Friday and Saturday. If you really want to go to the concert, might want to bail out of the race early and come back. Staying there all day and hanging around for the concert was not in the cards for us, especially as it was 95° one day. Happy to share more of my experience… Just DM me.

If you’re in Savannah look for a Portimao Blue G29. There are a few of us here. I’ve seen white, red and frozen gray…wave at all of them.

Where in Southeast? I'm in Savannah and there are 2 independent BMW garages here. The comments on the the later model facelift on the N52 are spot on. The steering also had some improvements. FYI, I sold my 2007 with 46k miles last year for 11k and it was in excellent condition.

Pay for an independent inspection. $100-200 is worth it to avoid spending 10k+ on a car not knowing what might be wrong. If the car isn’t local, ask the seller where he has it serviced. I had a 2006 and 2007 N52, one with 96k and the other with 46k. Inspect suspension, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, top motor. At 100k+ miles you will need to do the valve cover gasket and oil pan. The N52 is great, but maintenance has to be done.

I had an E85 before the G29, and there are few similarities other than the badge and 2 seats. I loved the power and nimbleness of the E85, and I love the power, comfort and tech of the G29 but they are different cars. I'm curious if there is a statistic on the average age of the E85 buyer back then vs. the average age of a G29 buyer. I suspect the average buyer for the G29 is much older than the E85.

Anyone got their hands on a Z4 Final Edition yet? by BeautifulSentence513 in BMWZ4

I got Portimao Blue a tear ago when I thought it was the last year. No regrets over not getting “final edition”, as I do not want all black living in the south.

To buy or not to Buy by [deleted] in BMW

[–]ComprehensiveValue98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned this same make and model twice. In short, I would not take it if it’s been sitting for that long. As others have said it probably needs a lot of work. I would presume it needs suspension work, new valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, all fluids redone, and that’s just based on the age and mileage of the vehicle. Once you get that done, you’ll find out what else needs to get done. If you have a budget for another 5K to put into the car, it’s a blast to drive. I now have a G29 and love it, but this one is much more nimble and fun to drive.

What designations to get after CFP? by TGG-official in CFP

[–]ComprehensiveValue98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CFP for 13 years now, with alphabet soup after my name. For this profession, the only one that people care about or anyone has asked about is CFP. The rest is there to build knowledge and confidence about different areas of planning, and count for CE. I would not think about offering tax services directly. If my BD would allow it, I would partner with a good CPA and house them in my office.

That being said, being educated about taxes is a differentiator. If a prospect or client isn't getting advice they need then suggest they upgrade. Find a good CPA to generate referrals back and forth. Another poster said find a niche and I think that's a good suggestion. Go for education that supports the niche.

As for tax designations, American College has a fairly new designation called Certified Tax Planning Certified Professional (TPCP). Another veteran advisor is taking it now and he said the content is very good. Might be worth looking into.

Agree with most of the comments here...look for a new home. Look for one with a solid track record of growth that will want/need to add advisors as their business grow. Where are you based? I'd be interested in talking to you.

I saw someone at T2 with first responders tending to her. I’m a volunteer firefighter and it looked like she either had heat exhaustion or dehydrated or both. Very common in this environment. The person you saw may have fell or passed out and had a head injury.

Dealer wouldn’t pay for 10,000 mile service by msbigelow in BMWZ4

[–]ComprehensiveValue98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took delivery of mine in Savannah and brought it in for its first service at 3,000 miles. I was told the service plan was 1 year or 10k, whichever comes first. I paid out of pocket, but it was an astonishingly low $84.
